Reggie Bush is worth more than the normal number 2 pick so i think you throw the whole "point system" out the window...it has to be a Hershel Walker or Ricky Williams type deal to get it done if you ask me.

spkb25 04-28-2006 09:33 PM

dude from what i saw on the jets boards they wont part with the 71, we should then take their cpmp pick even though it isa the last in the third round it still adds a pick and we still end up with three of the first 34 picks and get a late third round pick. could call it an early 4 to be honest but it puts us about 50 points apart

SuJaguar00 04-28-2006 09:48 PM

If you are referring to the compensatory pick the Jets have in the 3rd round, they can't deal that pick per league rules. If a deal is contigent upon the 3rd being added it has to be the 71st overall selection.

spkb25 04-28-2006 09:53 PM

suj i didn't know that and i have been putting that out all over the place. thank you for that info. i did not know that and appreciate the info. i feel foolish

pakowitz 04-28-2006 10:10 PM

comp picks arent tradable

spkb25 04-28-2006 10:11 PM

hey pak thanks for restating that.

pakowitz 04-28-2006 10:31 PM

oh didnt see he said that... my bad

Dhatboi 04-28-2006 10:45 PM

yea look through the threads before posting it goshhhhhhhhhhhh

SuJaguar00 04-28-2006 10:57 PM

Hey we got keep each other informed about things.

But oh what a position our teams seems to be in. The highest rated player on our board available at our selection and a ton of teams willing to deal. As many have already said, I am as excited about the draft as I can ever remember.

hagan714 04-28-2006 11:25 PM

lets see again. not being greedy
2 to 3 Tenn. #1 and 2nd (07) = 2600 problem here they do not have a 3rd
2 to 4 Jets #4,29 71, 117 = 2612 they are loaded.
2 to 5 GB 5, #1 (07), 104, 139 = 2622.5 no multi. so a player would be part
here we risk loosing out on AJ, DBrick,
2 to 6 SF #6, #1 (07), 88, 100, = 2650 no 2nd here
now davis could be gone
2 to 7 Oak #7, 42,70, #2(07) = 2660 no 5th
huff probly gone so it will cost big.
Cards # 10, 41, #1 (07), #3 (07) = 2780
Denver is interesting, they are the most loaded. through in a #2 next year and there right there.

like I said months ago baby step it down.
trade one options:
1 DBrick/AJ
2 AJ/Davis
3 Davis/Huff
4 Huff/ Ngata
5 Ngata/Bunkley
3

LivnaLieTimay 04-28-2006 11:30 PM

Hang up on anyone who calls and run Reggie's name to the podium

spd2006 04-28-2006 11:49 PM

Bush is a great player, no doubt. I'd like to see a deal get done w/the Jets. We could use the two 1st rounders on D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Bobby Carpenter. That would take care of two positions we need to adress pretty badly.

jnormand 04-28-2006 11:56 PM

I think the Saints need Hawk more than anyone on the board right now.

JimBone 04-29-2006 12:02 AM

First of all let me say that i think the Saints should take Bush...if not...Hawk, Ferguson, or Davis. If there is a chance they cant get one of those three, then by no means do we trade down.

I am still all for that, But at the same time, I posted a while back that IF Bush was there at the #2 we had to take him. Puts me in a dilema as well, but a great one I might add!

Draft day scenario..... Doh, we got stuck picking Bush...OH DARN!

How bad can it be?

jnormand 04-29-2006 12:09 AM

Like I said in another post....lets hope the Saints don't keep the pick and draft Cutler or Young instead of trading down or getting Bush.

JimBone 04-29-2006 12:10 AM

Exactly...how bad can it be now...we take Bush or we trade down for an a##load of picks. Either way, we instantly get better.

jnormand 04-29-2006 12:14 AM

I'll tell you how bad it could be. The Saints have a bad habit of passing on players or situations that could help the organization. Of course, that was when Haz was coach...but you never know.

JimBone 04-29-2006 12:18 AM

I know how much Payton loves Bush and there is no way the Saints stay at 2 and dont take him. If they wanted to trade down before, they have to know the chances are better now. If you cant get what you want, stay put and take Bush...no way we lose on this one.

We missed some, but Deuce, Will Smith, and Jamaal Brown were 1st rd picks that made people scratch their heads at the time. They'll all be Pro-Bowlers eventually.

Savant 04-29-2006 02:07 AM

I think trading with the Jet's is the only way to go. I don't wanna drop past four and risk losing Hawk or D-Brick. And like someone said ealier, NO GREEN BAY.

Euphoria 04-29-2006 02:10 AM

I would give a left nut to have two first rounders in this draft. I would give up Bush for a Brick, Mangold and any other first rounder.

ssmitty 04-29-2006 04:05 AM

i just read somewhere, that oakland might be offering a #1 next yr with this yrs' first and 2nd.........
now i have to go back and try to find it.............
if that is the case and oakland takes bush, with a run on qb's, we would almost certainly still end up with brick, 2 seconds, and 2 firsts next yr..........not bad, not bad....................smitty

ssmitty 04-29-2006 04:31 AM

this is what i found so far.........

49ers | Saints asking price high for No. 2
Fri, 28 Apr 2006 23:36:02 -0700

Dave Hutchinson, of the Star-Ledger, reports the San Francisco 49ers are trying to trade up with the New Orleans Saints to the No. 2 spot in the NFL Draft, but the Saints asking price is high. The Saints are asking the 49ers for their No. 6 pick, plus the extra first-round pick they have at No. 22 and next season's first-round pick.

ssmitty 04-29-2006 04:32 AM

and this,

asking price high for No. 2
Fri, 28 Apr 2006 23:35:35 -0700

Dave Hutchinson, of the Star-Ledger, reports the New York Jets are trying to trade up with the New Orleans Saints to the No. 2 spot in the NFL Draft, but the Saints asking price is high. The Saints are asking the Jets for one of two packages, according to an agent who represents one of the draft's top players: The Jets' pick at No. 4, plus their first-round selection at No. 29 and their first-round pick next season or the Jets' pick at No. 4, plus their first-round selection at No. 29, their second-round pick at No. 35 and their second-round pick next season.

Savant 04-29-2006 06:40 AM

Somebody is gonna chock it up. I just know it.

chRxis 04-29-2006 08:20 AM

trust me, the jets, at the eleventh hour, will begrudgingly give in for reggie bush...

hagan714 04-29-2006 08:20 AM

The Saints are asking the 49ers for their No. 6 pick, plus the extra first-round pick they have at No. 22 and next season's first-round pick.
1600 + 780 + 800 = 3180
wow i thought both 1'a,4 and a 2 (07)
1600 + 780 + 100 + 400 = 2980
here we settle on Davis or Huff
add a #2 next year for a bush and you get 3380

Jets for one of two packages, according to an agent who represents one of the draft's top players: The Jets' pick at No. 4, plus their first-round selection at No. 29 and their first-round pick next season or the Jets' pick at No. 4, plus their first-round selection at No. 29, their second-round pick at No. 35 and their second-round pick next season.
1800 + 640 + 800 = 3240
1800 + 640 + 550 +400 = 3390
another wow i had 1 (4), 2 (35), 3(71)
1800 + 550 + 235 = 2825
Here we settle for AJ/Dbrick
add a #2 next year for a bush and you get 3285
think these reports are bunk! Why would you ask more from the Jets tan San fran? Reverse the asking prices and they make more sense

JimBone 04-29-2006 08:44 AM

The Saints had most definitely hold off on compromsing on a trade. They better get what they want out of this and if they dont..then take Reggie Bush and sit back and send the Texans a thank you card.
