The Facts on Brees Today

exciting article-

“I've been throwing for almost four weeks, Brees said.

In that the beginning of May was his target date to begin throwing following his shoulder surgery in January, Brees was told that must mean he remains ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation.

He laughed and said with no small trace of sarcasm:

“Only about a month.

“This is where I've got to smile on the inside and not say any more, he said. “I'm just going to have to shock the world in a few months.

He undoubtedly included in that a shocking of the Chargers brass, which in February allowed him to leave as a free agent. Brees relished being coy, laughing frequently during yesterday's phone conversation. “You've got to keep it a mystery, he said, “for all the doubters.

I'm pretty sure he's been throwing behind everyone's back. He wants to play and show why we signed him so such a fat contract. I guess w/o drafting a quarterback this draft, he's going to see the bulk load of that contract the next two years. Hopefully he'll bring back into the playoffs ASAP. I'd love to see this offense reach it's full potential.

We should be capable of a playoff run THIS SEASON with this offense should Brees recover. This is good news.

I would just like to see a winning season. We are in the hardest division in the NFL.

I agree with all of you. Hey, maybe we can get our hands on that Lombardi trophy too while we're at it. Why not? :D

This year? I think we'd have to steal it.

JimBone 05-06-2006 01:02 AM

Our best chance to steal it was wasted the day we cut Albert Connell...i think that was what we brought him in here for. I would be happy with 7 wins this season, and we can build from there.

smyce 05-07-2006 09:24 AM

I wouldnt necessarily say I'd be "happy" with 7 wins, but I'd sure prefer it over 3.

spkb25 05-07-2006 11:07 AM

shame we cut that guy bones. he was good for something even if we couldn't see it at the time. i am glad to hear tghis about brees and makes me more excited about the season and our future. i am sure we aren't pushing for the super bowl this year but if we are really a strong possibility to reach the playoffs next year and can continue that we should get there or at least have the opportunity in the next couple of seasons.

Every team pushes for the super bowl before the season starts(Well except maybe Houston HAHA thanks again.) After the first 3 weeks it is a totally different story. As for not making it to the Super Bowl........Stranger things have happened to a team with a brand new QB who was cast away from his original team.

jnormand 05-08-2006 02:53 PM

You have to at least believe that this team is going to be much more disciplined and effective down the stretch. I don't think 8 or 9 wins is going to be out of reach...of course our schedule says different. Good news on Brees. You can't help but believe in this guy.

JimBone 05-09-2006 12:51 PM

I really like the Saints chances to compete this year...not for the title, but possibly for the final playoff spot. I think the offense will be leaps and bounds better than it was and i think if the defense can just play disciplined, we can steal a couple of games and then you never know. I think opening with Cleveland and Green Bay helps too, if you can win those games and build a little confidence...who knows...
