Casserly fired today

Texans got rid of their GM. Don't know why they waited till after the draft?

I don't have a link. There's a thread over on the LSU board started by some of the guys that live in Houston and are Texans fans. They're pretty pissed cause they wanted Reggie.

Yeah, not drafting Reggie probably put a damper on their ticket sales.

Now Showing: The Immortal, Over-Rated, & Under-Achieving...................Mario Williams!!!!!! :D

That would piss me off, too if I was a Texans fan.

heard he resigned, but whatever. this was the first year he had to share to draft responsibilities 50-50 with the head coach.

RE: Casserly fired today

Houston should have fired Casserly a long time ago. If they would have fired him a couple years ago, they could have kept a great coach around. Dom Capers got the wrong end of the stick. Dom is a top notch head coach who got a very raw deal because of the poor performance of Casserly.

You are completely right, BnB. Casserly resigned.

LSUJeremy 05-10-2006 08:57 PM

Come on. Do y'all really think he just all of a sudden decided to quit a little over a week after the draft? :)

They have something like less than 20 wins in the four years of the franchise with him having the final say on everything.

I'd guess the "resignation" was a face saving thing the way those things usually are.

LKelley67 05-10-2006 11:01 PM

PFT called his ousting a month ago. Resigned? Yeah, right.

Three strikes... Take Brian Boselli 1st pick in the expansion draft signs for $$$, never plays one down (STRIKE ONE!), The head coach you hire goes 18 & 46 in 4 seasons (STRIKE TWO!). You pass on the most highly touted RB to come out of the draft in years for a DE... STRIKE THREE!
Only the Saints could have worse luck... Why can't they be in our division!!!!
:monkey:

Find me an article that said he was fired.

You do know he's been eyeing the senior vice president position for the NFL, ever since Shell left to coach the Raiders, right?

JOESAM2002 05-11-2006 08:52 AM

I heard he resigned? As opposed to being fired.

Perhaps this article will help....

If he'd have ever bothered to find a LT to protect David Carr he'd be the king of Houston.

His decision to NOT deal with the offensive line once it became apparent that Tony Boselli wasn't going to play again is inexcusable. Dumb decision. Makes Kuharich look like a genius.
