Y'all might be getting a little ahead of yourselves on Haas. Let's wait and see what he does with pads on against veteran NFL players.

They dont just give the Biletnikoff Award away. Some recievers that have recieved it over the past ten years: Larry Fitzgerald, Randy Moss, Terry Glenn, Antonio Bryant. Of corse there have been a few that never amounted to anything more than returning kicks and punts. But I belive we picked a real winner. A guy that wants to play football and knows he has to earn a position on this team. Some guys get drafted and think because they had a decent college career they think they deserve a spot on the roster. I think there should be a pay chart simular to the military in the NFL. You start out with a crappy salery and then you earn your stripes and then your pay increases. Just think if NFL players played with the intensity of college players hoping to make millions of dollars a year.

You're absolutely right, Jeremy. However, of all of the receivers on our roster. He's got the biggest upside. If he is anything like players we've seen in the past (Eric Martin, Ed McCaffrey, Ricky Proehl, etc..), that means you can throw the kitchen sink at him and he'll bring it down. You can't help but like the guy for his intelligence and ability to play the game. He's the Peter LaFleur of the Saints. A true underdog story.

They don't just give the Heisman away either, yet there have been SEVERAL busts who have gotten it(Eric Crouch, Chris Weinke, Ron Dayne, Danny Weurffel), and guys who have won it who have not even gotten a chance in the NFL(Charlie Ward, Jason White). Just saying, let the guy do something before we call him Abramowicz and Eric Martin and such. Those names mean a lot to me. And people are casually throwing them around over a 6th round pick. I am just as excited to see what he can do, but let's let him DO IT first.

This is based on... his college numbers? Heck I thought Talman Gardner has the biggest upside of all our receivers a couple of seasons ago and he's not even in the NFL anymore. I'm not saying he can't be the next yadda yadda, but let's be a little realistic here. If he becomes a solid number 4 guy, I'll be more than happy... especially coming from a 6th round draft pick.

Continuing with sw's list... Tommy Frazier, Andre Ware, Lawerence Phillips... we can really go on forever with this.

I like all of the intangibles I've read about Haas, but I think a lot of players can have those things said about them. He'll come in and work hard, but he's moved up a level in talent and we have to see how he does against NFL DB's.

Don't give up on Devery, though. He's a quiet, hard working guy that didn't play WR till his JR year at LSU. He's still learning.

4.56 in shorts okay is not head turning but it is not slow. Put pads on him and he will still be running 4.6 range for the entire 60 minutes. Not many WR in the NFL can do that. I want 40 times in pads next year.

hagan714 - I totally agree with that. That is why watching game film is so much more important for projecting a guys NFL future, and not the NFL combine. Very great point for you!
