New Orleans Saints Official Website is GONE!

How does a professional football team let their registration for their own official website expire?? What the hell is going on here??

I hope so but why would they let the registration of the domain name www.neworleanssaints.com expire...the site should just be down, not taken away!!!

Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit weird?

Saints | Team to change name
Sun, 21 May 2006 07:30:17 -0700

Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports he New Orleans Saints have decided to change their name, they will now officially be known as New Orleans Bush's. This is a response to the overwhelming response to first round draft pick Reggie Bush. In a statement issued by head coach Sean Payton he said "It’s a new beginning, a new start for this city, franchise and the whole gulf south. We just felt we should usher in the change with a new name and what name could be better than Reggie Bush?" In an unrelated issue, the Atlanta Falcons will now be known simply by the initials STD, in honor of their pro bowl QB Mike Vick.

Hahahaha! Genius!

alsaints113 05-21-2006 01:39 PM

That's weird. It isn't back up for me but maybe thats because I am in Shreveport and traitor Louisiana Cowgirls fans are blocking it regionally...lol

Hmmm, people on the nola.com and saintsreport.com forums are saying for some it is working and for some it isn't...Strange!

Anyway, Geaux Saints...minicamp is coming and then preseason! I got tickets for the game on Monday night here in Shreveport...I'll have to teach the locals about state pride and cheering the Saints...and I'm from Pennsylvania! HA!

AllSaints 05-21-2006 02:38 PM

They are probly making it better........ nothin to freak out about

Tobias-Reiper 05-21-2006 05:16 PM

They are not making it better... the domain registration has expired, according to the message.

Does anyone know if the people who maintained the site are still in business?
What may be, is that the dufuses (or is that dufii ? ) who maintained the site went out of business and were in charge of keeping up with the name registration.

Buy the domain name, then sell it back to Benson.

qball316 05-21-2006 08:17 PM

If I remember correctly, EATEL is the one that was in charge of the website. As far as I know, they are still in business.

LKelley67 05-21-2006 08:40 PM

oldies- not a lot of folks know screamin' jay muchless are fans... most kewl. tab benoit has probably my fav version of that song.

somebody should get severely reprimanded if not fired over such a blunder as letting the site reg. expire! there are a lot of people out there bidding on it if they do not have some first right of renewal clause. really really unprofessional!

Maybe it's jsut that The Team wants to own the rights to www.losangelessaints.com

stillafan 05-22-2006 03:31 AM

Don't panic, Frankee...

The domain names losangeleschargers.com and losangelesvikings.com are also "under construction" via Network Solutions.

Looks like a few web prospectors are panning for domain-name gold.

RE: Don

In the early stages of the internet, people have made fortunes buying domain names for little and selling them to companies for huge amounts of money. It's a genius idea, but now-a-days there are some regulations. Plus, now that the average public knows about it, it's very hard to take up the scheme yourself and make good money with it.

And, LKelley67, thanks. I am (as my screen name suggests) an Oldies music discjockey. So, I've been exposed to a lot of rare stuff. Screamin' Jay Hawkins always struck a chord with me, though. He was such an oddball. Legend has it, he fathered 57 children around the globe.

"Cyber-squatting" was quashed long time ago when the courts ruled it infringes trademark and copyright laws.
"The New Orleans Saints" is a trademark of the NFL. You try to buy www.neworleanssaints.com and sell it to the NFL, expect a huge trademark and copyright infringement law suit.

a professional team's web site should never be down...especially for 2 days. very very very sloppy.

JOESAM2002 05-22-2006 07:06 AM

I'm confused. I pulled it up last night. Works fine for me.

RE: Don

They have a year after it expires to re-register it. Trademark laws allow injunctions and they will win in arbitration with WIPO. Lots of precedent. Probably won't get that far.

NOSaints 05-22-2006 03:47 PM

RE: Don

Legend also has it LKelley67 fathered 67 children. What do you think the 67 at the end of his handle stands for? Of course I have no idea what his musical skills are like. Screamin' Jay may still have on on him.
