This play epidimizes the roller coaster ride that is being a Saints fan, especially if you know how the very next play came out.

that play is a microcasm of what it means to be a true saints fan.

JimBone 05-24-2006 06:27 PM

Yep, you get to enjoy both ends of the spectrum...although it always seems to be a bit one sided.

I don't even have to watch it to know the Jacksonville game... I hope I am right though. That was my first true heartbreak as a Saints fan..... It sucked.

saintswhodi 05-24-2006 07:49 PM

Wow. Anybody see Donte break those THREE tackles? Two with dudes right on him? Wow.

NOSaints 05-24-2006 07:55 PM

Donte has HEART  and he showed it on that play.

OK Carney, put your head on this here block while my little buddy gives you a haircut. :chainsaw:

This year Donte will WOW us again and again. YEAH BABY :saintsfan:

You wanna know the worst thing about that Carney kick.......I saw the Flea Flicker Fiasco unfold and I was screaming in my living room. My friends call me right away and say...."that was amazing man....BUT REMEMBERTHERE IS STILL THE EXTRA POINT TO DEAL WITH" I laughed and said c'mon guys you can't be serious....Carney is not that bad. Shortly after the kick...I proceeded to slightly sautee my foot with all the right seasonings for that perfect foot in mouth sandwich I had to eat...not to mention another phone call. Literally.....my heart made it to Beijing in a hurry.

While we are on the subject of defining moments that kept us out of the playoffs, going into week 15 of the regular season in 2002, the Saints simply need one win in their next 3 games to secure a playoff berth. Lucky, all three of those teams, the Bengals, Vikings, and Panthers, have losing records. However, the Bengals catch the Saints off-guard, but there is still hope. In week 16, the Saints are ahead of the Vikings by 7 points in the waning minutes of the game, when Minnesota drives down the field to score six. Down by 1, the Vikings, rather than tie it by kicking the extra point decide to go for 2 - and MAKE IT!!! Still there is some hope in week 17. The opponents are the lowly Panthers. This time the Saints are sure to win, however, rather than start the healthy Jake Delhomme, New Orleans instead opt for Aaron Brooks, who has an ailing shoulder. Sure enough, in true Saints fashion, we lose for the third consecutive week and are out of the playoff, yet again. Ah, memories!

I remember being bummed out, because I thought we should have won, then jumping up and downwith excitement, then being in denial, ... still cant fathom it

mjf150 05-25-2006 01:02 PM

A couple of extra notes about that Minnesota Vikings game: It was actually the first of those three games. Daunte Culpepper actually fumble on that two point conversion, and still managed to run the ball in to win the game with only 5 seconds on the clock. Oh, the misery of being a Saints fan.

Here is the rest of the story: http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/recap/NFL_20021215_MIN@NO

Side Note: The Bengals only won 2 games the entire season and one of them was against the Saints the following week.

Ok....this thread has officially forced me to call my Doctor and completely stock up on valium, prozac, zanax, oxyconton, and....and.....damn I'm gonna have to call my street pharmacist as well. :puke:

mjf150 05-25-2006 01:51 PM

Who votes to rename this topic "The Bad Ol' Days"?

We can all put in our own candidates for the worst moments in Saints history. We have plenty to choose from.

A typical Sunday watching my Saints from start to finish:

:D :) :| :bnb: :awe: :cursing:

 :computer2:  :brood: :disgust: :jkool:

:awe: :crying:  :crying: :bang: :crying:  :puke:

Well.....in a nut shell....I hope this year I can cut the list of emotions in half.....and maybe not drink so much from football depression LOLOL....but no matter what....every Sunday I start off like :saintsfan:

Peace!
