My Response to "Saints are History"

Mr. Wilson,

There are so many gaffs in your article pertaining to the New Orleans Saints move to Los Angeles, that I almost do not know where to begin - almost. First, the NFL, itself, has stated that the earliest possible timeframe for having a NFL team return to LA is 2010. So, your suggestion that the Saints will be there in "two years" is ridiculous and two years shy of the NFL's most optimistic proposal (1). In addition, when you rambled off a list of names that are considered top candidates for relocation to Los Angeles, you conveniently left off the one most likely to make the move, the San Diego Chargers (1). The Chargers have long been a candidate for a change of address, and with the NFL stating that they would prefer to move teams within a state or region; they are by far the top candidate for such a move. In fact, LA was the original home of the Chargers when they began play in 1960. You also mentioned that the "ticket prices (are) out of reach of most". In fact, Saints ticket prices are among the lowest in the league. Over 20,000 seats, almost a third of the Dome, are offered at $35 per game or less. Some season tickets sell for as little as $14 per game (2). And lastly, though this has little to do with football, I thought I might mention, since you brought it up, that Louisiana was hit by, not one, but two major hurricanes, a fact that you and the rest of the media tend to forget (“before the hurricane), despite the fact that we here on the Southwestern side of the state are reminded of every day. The fact that you are a reporter, I assumed that you would have put a little more effort and research into your articles, however, it is much easier to "shoot off the mouth". Yes, the "Saints are history" - Louisiana's history.

Sincerely,

Mike
