RE: rothlesburher hurt in motorcycle accident

Wow that's wild, they just interviewed him on Mike and Mike this morning. Heard it on my way into work.

saintswhodi 06-12-2006 12:46 PM

Basically, a car pulled in front of him, he smacked the winshield, then smacked the pavement. He was bleeding from the head and did not initially know who he was. They should know the extent of the damages in a few hours. Hopefully. It's stupid people still ride Motorcycles without helmets.

wheelman 06-12-2006 01:00 PM

No wonderlic score could predict that stupidity.

mikesaintfan 06-12-2006 01:14 PM

this guy graduated college and won a superbowl but does not where a helmet?
IDIOT

LordOfEntropy 06-12-2006 01:20 PM

Of course it's stupid to ride without a helmet. But then again, if degree of safety is all that's ever considered, it's stupid to ride a motorcycle to begin with. There's not exactly a lot of protection afforded to a rider, even when a helmet is worn.

There has to be a balance struck somewhere between living a life of caution and living of life at all. I mean, it's stupid to skydive. It's stupid to drink non-distilled water. It's stupid to kiss a babe without a health check first. Hell, it's even stupid to play football.

But if all we ever did was limit risk to our lives, life wouldn't be very much fun.

If he wants to ride his dangerous rice rocket, so be it. If he wants to risk even more damage to his head by not wearing a helmet, that's his choice. I personally have no problem with it.

LongTimeFan 06-12-2006 01:42 PM

I just heard that he's in bad shape right now and is in surgery.

His contract forbids taking part in dangerous activities. If his career is over, the Steelers may be in their rights to void his contract. Not to forget that thing about him being the most important player on the team....

LongTimeFan 06-12-2006 01:56 PM

His injury isn't career ending, I heard John Clyton on ESPN

LordOfEntropy 06-12-2006 02:46 PM

Are you certain of that wheelman? How do you know?

saintswhodi 06-12-2006 02:55 PM

Last report: Broken jaw, lost some teeth. Head and knee injuries.

LordOfEntropy 06-12-2006 03:02 PM

Sounds like he'll be out for a while. It's amazing how randome they can be. I once dumped a bike doing well over a hundred on I-4. But I walked away from it with a little road rash and nothing else.

I wonder if he hit the car, or if the car hit him. Every biker knows he's invisible when on the road...

saintswhodi 06-12-2006 03:04 PM

Okay, it gets much much worse:

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt.../s_457685.html

The link is slow cause so many people are checking it. Says he has lost most of his teeth, broken jaw, broken left sinus cavity, 9 inch laceration to the back of his head, and serious injuries to both knees.

LongTimeFan 06-12-2006 03:47 PM

I hit a bridge in baton Rough on my 1500 Goldwing, I was only going 40 MPH but that was fast enough to get my butt in the hospital..

spkb25 06-12-2006 04:44 PM

that doesn't sounbd to great. lost most of his teeth and a broken jaw.

AllSaints 06-12-2006 05:19 PM
