stallworth not being traded?
Saints | Team not trading Stallworth
Fri, 16 Jun 2006 09:39:44 -0700 While on "The Afternoon Blitz" on Sirius NFL Radio Wednesday, June 14, New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said the team is not looking to trade WR Donte' Stallworth. Loomis added, "I've seen some of those rumors. Most of it is unfounded. I've gotten a couple of calls, I think as a result of the rumors more than anything else. But we're not looking to trade Donte' Stallworth. He's an integral part of our team and we're expecting a big year from him." |

Hard to hang your hat on admission or denial on that one, it seems. 8) |
Ah they had him off the block 4 atleast 5 weeks i posted it long time ago.....
Stallworth doesn't have the work ethic or mindset to become an elite NFL WR.
We'll have to see what he does this year. I'd rather have him there than some untested rookie or FA.
I don't mind him getting the chance to play with a real QB, but he's walking on thin ice with this new staff and doesn't seem to be too committed to solidifying his standing with the Saints.
What really bugged me was him being on the news after getting benched saying that he knew how Payton wanted things from day 1, and yet he still was late. I just don't think he's going to put the effort in that the top WR's put in. |
As much as I support Stallworth, that last bit may be true. He might not be willing to put in the work needed to be a #1. I don't know him personally, so I don't know if he does or doesn't. But the fact he seems to have an attitude and can't get it together to be on time is bumming me out.
I dunno how your Judging him, but to me it seemed he did a great job as the number one reciver last year when horn went done. And to add to hit he was the ONLY reciever.....
all I read here is "We are not going to give him away"
Same with Bennett. Nothing less than 4 because holding on to them wont hurt us. much |
No knock on Donte, but let's send him to the Chargers for Donnie Edwards.
True Stallworth did a decent job in Horn's place for a lot of last year but that was last year. We have a new coach and with a new coach players usually respond one of two ways. They either adapt and accept the new system and staff(like Horn did) or you sit and pout(like Stallworth is doing). Maybe he may have the ability to be a decent player but he doesn't seem to be buying into the new regime. No reason to keep him here if that's the case.
We need to keep Donte. He might not be as hard of a worker as Payton might like, but with Joe getting hurt every other game, we need to have him. We have a lot of bodies at WR, but we don't have a lot of quality at that position.
We dont need to do anything but address the needs at CB and OL, leave everything else alone.

Will Stallworth have a break out year or will injuries and too many easily dropped passes continue to hinder his career?
i hope that, with a QB that knows how to throw all kinds of balls and not just bullets, stallworth will be able to prove his worth. if not, he will be gone by the end of the season.

As much as Donte hasnt lived up to his billing, I dont think we are strong enough at receiver to let him go. Joe will be Joe but hes not getting any younger and from what I hear, Devery isnt progressing much.
