Peter King Evaluates 2001 Draft
New Orleans Saints
Grade: D 27. New Orleans. Talk about a one-man draft. Deuce McAllister came with the 23rd pick and ushered Ricky Williams out of town. After that, a bunch of schmoes named Ojo. Onome Ojo, that is. The UC Davis wideout came in Round 5 and left just about as quickly. Team-by-team.... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...mqb/index.html 8) |
RE: Peter King Evaluates 2001 Draft
I don't think he is saying Deuce gets a D as a draft choice but the entire Saints 01 picks on whole rate a D. But, after reading his list and noting that many of the 01 picks are not with the teams who drafted them and or have failed to produce then you can't put the Saints in the grade. Although I think that the Saints got a hell of a pick at no 23 with Deuce! Was it worth it. On a whole if you look at that list then yes I'd say the Saints should be graded better. But It's Peter King and he blows... like a hanky in the wind regarding rankings... :moon:

Sedrick Hodge also came out of the draft. Not that he did anything special, but he wasn't a bust either. I think we should have been ranked in the 15-20 range. A lot of other teams blew worse than we did in that draft. We stole Deuce at #23.

I understand what he is trying to say, and I probably agree. However, "a bunch of shmoes named Ojo?" Were there more than one? Name the crappy players we drafted, don't make stuff up to try and sound witty.

i will give you guys and gals something to show how bad peter king's analysis of this is:
the atlanta falcons get a B for passing up on Tomlinson and the chargers only get a B for a draft in which they got Tomlinson and Brees???? WTF |
