a vote please, who thinks bush screws us?

while reggie has given to the community, he certainlly has not gone in his own pockets to do so..he simple has given something that was given to him. money is the easiest thing to give and it gets easier to give when it's someone elses........his about face on his stance of getting to training camp makes me cringe...........and while a deal may be cut there is no doubt in my mind that reggie is in it for the money. people of louisiana are forgiving of a lot of things when performance outweighs greed, but they do not forget and nor will i..............there are those of you who will say they all are in it for the money, but i disagree....there are many who would play for the love of the game but imo, reggie is not one of em...............i don't know what it is, but reggie is putting a bad taste in my mouth..................smitty

there has been no about face...he has always maintained that he wants to be in camp on time, but only if the front office honors their promise to pay him #1 money.

Reggie Bush and every other #1 pick other than Mario Williams and Wimbley (today) that hasn't signed a contract must also be evil people looking to screw their respective cities/teams.

None of us have heard Bush say anything about what kind of money he wants. We didnt even hear his agent say it...we heard his PR guy say it. And the article about him sitting out the year wasnt written by a well-known credible journalist, it was written by some clown from yahoo sports. It hasnt even made ESPN.com as a story. I think Reggie will be a holdout, but he will most definitely be in camp at some point and he will be in the lineup come week 1.

show him the money.

This post simply disgusts me. Bush gave alot of money that could have been in his pocket, pal. Be thankful, this guy is doing alot more then he has to. Show some respect for crying out loud, you embarrass not only yourself, but other Saints fans by posting garbage like this.

Why is everyone getting so worked up over business as usual? I said months ago that Bush would not be in camp on time. It's just the usual posturing in the so called media that always happens.

Bush would be better off cutting off a leg at the knee than sitting out for a year, or for any significant amount of time for that matter. The NFL is his bread and butter, not the other way around. Ask TO about that last year as a perfect example.

It'll get done. It'll be money somewhere between Alex Smith last year and Mario Williams this year. In fact it may even be a close match to the Williams contract.

32 guys were picked in the 1st round this year. 2 have signed. Only the #1 pick has signed in the top 10.

Bush wants to get as much money up front as he can. The Saints want to save every dollar on his contract that they can.

It's just business as usual. Start worring if it's the last preseason game and he still isn't signed.

Now on to a football question in terms of Bush and camp. How much of the blitz package is he expected to pick up? Blitzing is typically the toughest job for a rookie RB. Even if he's in the backfield on traditional running downs, he needs to know who to pick up and to make sure that player doesn't get to Brees right?

That's an instance where practice makes perfect. Rookies simply won't see those types of blitzes in live action preseason games. So you have to learn it in practice and then hope that it works live fire in real games.

Of course the Saints can simply scheme it so that Bush is never actually in the backfield to pick up blitzes when throwing the ball. However, that key would very quickly be picked up by defenses.

So any thoughts?

Funny thing about money is it can dry up. Reggie Bush is one or 2 major injuries away from having to take a 30,000/yr job like your average joe. Do not assume he'll play 15 years and continue to collect money hand-over-fist. Therefore, his monetary generosity is VERY admirable.

RE: Re: a vote please, who thinks bush screws us?

IMO this is only the media making news. There isnt a whole lot to talk about prior to camp so the media always concentrates on draft pick holding out etc.... Noone should be alarmed as this is the same thing that happens every year with the top players in the draft. Keep in mind that this guy is very rare and EVERYONE knows it including him and his agents. No way this guy will sit out this year. He wont be worth the same next year and teams would be very sceptical on signability. This guy will help sell out the dome much like mike Vick does for the Falcons. They will sign him! Maybe not before the start of camp but he will sign before the pre season. As for his character, I dont see anything that he has done that could spoil his image. He has shown generosity in our community. He has also accepted to come here and help rebuild a team and the spirit of a broken city. He could have pulled a Manning and refused to sign with us at any dollar amount but he didnt. That alone says alot about his character. Lets give him his due and let the front office do their job. Negativity always finds a way to rear its ugly head, maybe some people should lay off the ESPN for a while.

With the new agreement between the league and the union the signing of #1 picks will be more complex and take a little longer, especially with an athlete of Bush's notariety. Have faith, calm down and give them time.

RE: Re: a vote please, who thinks bush screws us?

Has ANYONE ever heard of ANY agent (greedy as they are) even 'think' out loud about sitting out a season with a rookie 1st rounder if he doesn't get what he wants in a contract?

Sounds omninous guys. Not worrisome (yet) but the shape of things to come?

One again, his agent did not say anything. It was his Public Relations guy.

Bush will be in camp. I cant imagine the guy alienating the fan base of New Orleans and I can not imagine Benson doing the same. This is the biggest thing to happen to the Saints since...well since the inception of the franchise. Everyone involved wants this to happen. Be patient, have faith in this staff to do their job's and hopefully I'm not attempting to get a dang refund on my 25 jersey.

I aggree that the media is overplaying this whole thing. They are making a big deal saying that New Orleans doesn't need this type of negativity, but the media are the ones pushing this issue. Top draft picks usually take time to sign, and it's rare that the first or second pick(or their agents) don't fight for more money. But, on another note, I do think he should have been the first pick, but he wasn't, having happen this way, I DO believe he should get the kind of money the second pick in the draft should get, not first pick type of money.
