st. louis may unload a quarterback...

kffl.com reports the rams will release the loser of the no. 3 qb position.... the competition is between jeff smoker and ryan fitzpatrick (the extremely intelligent, and talented qb from harvard)... fitzpatrick, if released, better get a call as soon as the ink on the pink slip dries... he's far better than anyone we have not named drew brees.... and what's with mc pherson changing jersey #'s? c'mon, give me a break... a qb with the number 1? the number 1 is not cool unless you are a wr in college and you better be the fastest mofo on the team to wear that number.... amac will be lucky to be no. 3, as in the the no. 3 qb for this team....

I think we're fine at quarterback but if Bouman is cut, I'd also snatch up Fitz. But then where will that leave A-Mac? I wonder if we ever thought about making him into a WR... there are plenty making that transition and I'm pretty sure he's as athletic as all the other quarterback turned receiver.

I thought teams keep a young QB as the 3rd QB.

It was reported last night that Jeff Smoker was released. So Fitzpatrick is out. Bouman should be cut. Ill take Jamie Martin over Bouman any day of the week. A-Mac still has another 2 years before he'll be ready to take some snaps.

u are right brsaintsfan;

Jeff Smoker became the odd man out in the Rams' quarterback glut when he was released Tuesday. That means four QBs will be on hand for the start of camp: starter Marc Bulger, backup Gus Frerotte, and Ryan Fitzpatrick and Dave Ragone, who will fight it out for the No. 3 job. The Rams drafted Smoker in the sixth round out of Michigan State in 2004. He was the No. 3 quarterback that year, then was released and re-signed twice last season. "It really would've helped him if he had gotten himself to NFL Europe," Linehan said. "That just helps give you a feel for how a guy can play."

what and we haven't called him yet. Please he's young and he has to have more talent than todd can't hit the side of a friggin barn bouman.

I think A-mac will be evaluated heavily over the next year...He may go to NFL Europe next year and I will definately watch if he goes, but I think if the coaches think he can transition to the NFL then he will get a shot at the job in a year or two....Here's why: We have all read Brees' contract and we all know it is essentially 6 one year contracts with those huge bonuses, a la McNair...and we know where those got him...If he makes the cut this year I see an open competition on one or two years...especially if Brees does not perform or he gets knocked out by a porous line....
