Bentley hurt in first practice
Wow.
Browns center Bentley hurts knee first day of campESPN.com news services Bentley BEREA, Ohio -- Pro Bowl center LeCharles Bentley sustained an injury to his left knee during the Browns' first 11-on-11 drill of training camp on Thursday. Bentley got tangled in a pile of players as he was blocking on a running play for Reuben Droughns. Bentley screamed, "No," before remaining on his knees as the Browns moved their scrimmage up the field so trainers could attend to the 6-foot-2, 309-pound player. He stayed on the ground in a seated position for several minutes before Cleveland's medical staff immobilized his left knee and carted him to the locker room. Bentley covered his face with a towel on the short drive to the field house as Browns players and fans looked on in shock. The extent of Bentley's injury is not yet known. Bentley, a five-year veteran, signed as a free agent with the Browns in March. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2531239 |
RE: Bentley hurt in first practice
I don't wish injury on him, but at the same time, I can't say that makes me sad.

RE: Bentley hurt in first practice
I thought we had bad luck, the Browns can't catch a break
its a shame but i dont know how to feel about this. I really liked Bentley as a Saint and i would have loved to keep him, but this news did bring a small level of joy to me...but it is sad...no really.
I think we can trade them Faine for next years number 1 and Braylon Edwards. : )
Hearsay.....
A source close to Browns center LeCharles Bentley said that it appears Bentley has suffered a torn patellar tendon in his left knee and will be lost for the season. The Browns have not confirmed the injury and Bentley is still at the Cleveland Clinic. Browns GM Phil Savage will address the media before the 5:30 practice. Wow, this entire off-season is turning out like the Seinfeld episode where Jerry always broke even.
Jeff Faine looking pretty good to anyone yet?
As much as I hate seeing LeCharles in a Browns jersey I hate seeing him get hurt. He was my favourite player on the team (myself being an OT). And I feel yo should never wish bad luck on anyone else just good luck for yourself.
Sucks for him but I'm pretty sure that enormous contract he signed will soften the blow.
Hate that it happened to him...you know he was pumped about playing for his hometown team...That sucks
...after all the crap Mr Overrated said while in NO and after leaving, and faking injury the last leg of the season, well..
karma is a female dog, ain't she, LeCharles? |
i hate that lecharles, who was the only player on last year's offense that cared, was injured... i have no ill will towards him... considering that it was his dream to play for the browns (hard to believe, but true)... if you were in the nfl, played on a mediocre team and had a chance to sign with your childhood dream team (in most of our cases, that would be the saints), every soul in here would do the same thing that lecharles did... even with the lure of more money and all... that's why i don't look at it like we lost lecharles... he was dead set on going to cleveland no matter what we threw at him... and i respect that about him... don't get me wrong, he got paid very well, but he wanted to be a part of a revival of his child hood favorite team and seized the opportunity to do it... hopefully, he won't miss a substantial amount of time....
LeCharles is gone for the season. Like many here, I hope he recovery is swift. In the meantime, we have Faine and let's hope he has a great preseason and season.
Some things do work out for the best. |

On NFL.com - Bentley tore his patella tendon and is out for the season. I like him so I'm not happy he's hurt. I am glad we're not dealing with it though. I wish him a good recovery. |
Injury at the first practice of your hometown team....that's some irony for you. I don't agree that everything worked out for the best. Call me crazy...but had he been here I don't believe he blows his knee out in the first 11-on-11 drill.
Ha!
Love the irony. |

As for the browns sux for them !!!!!! and as for Bently sux for him tooo hope he makes a full recovery !!! 8) |
kind of hard for a center to come back from a knee injury like that. With all your weight and force put on your knees, it will be tough for him to be the same player he was.
I was surprised to hear it, but if he was going to be hurt anyway, I am glad he is not one theis team. I hope he gets well soon.
well he made his bed and now he will definitly be laying it. :D
I do wish him the best of luck though |
Too bad about LeCharles. Hopefully he'll be able to make it back next year at 100%. Have a hard time feeling sorry for the Browns, though, since they are the first team on our schedule this year.
I would never wish injury on a player, and I'm not even happy that LeCharles got injured. I wouldn't call it that. Perhaps what I should call it is a good sign. Maybe? We decide not to pay record money for a center and instead trade down a few spots in a later round to the Browns for their starting center; and then the guy who they signed from our team gets injured for the entire season. Jeff Faine is looking pretty good right now, and I'm glad we didn't screw our cap situation by doling out the big bucks to a guy who's going to be gone for the whole year. I wish him the best, but honestly, when was the last time karma/payback/redemption/whatever you want to call it, this good happened to the Saints? I can see Jeff Faine right now quoting that line from Jerry Maguire, "You're loving me now aren't you?"
I'm holding my breath cause Jeff Faine ain't exactly known as Mr. Durability, or Mr. Tough guy. And no one can say if this would have happened to Bentley here. He would not have even been in camp yet if he was still on our team. So we don't know. But I agree with the Deuce in that this does seem like karma somehow. He didn't wanna behere to help the team and city rebuild, and now he's out for the season. San D. didn't wanna pay Brees cause of an injury, and the Dolphins said he failed a physical, now Drew is here. The best player in the draft, and best player to come out in a while, fell into our laps. AND I read on another forum that the dome may be sold out in season tickets. That's CRAZY!! So after the tragedy that was lat year, all around, and seeing as how it couldn't possibly have gotten worse, maybe the karma pendelum is swinging back around in our favor.
too bad for him, good luck healing.....
we had duece out last year we had our share of the injury bug...too bad browns |

Well.....isn't that ironic? 8)

you know how you are never suppose to cheer when someone gets hurt, well i do. good for him. don't want to be with the team i love i am glad your hurt. couldn't happen to a bigger *****. hey cleveland would you like jeff back. oh god it is great
I hate to see it, but cushions the blow of losing him for nothing.
Bentley was an animal! We'll miss him this year. We need a top shelf lineman.
Better the Browns than us.
