Camp Report...WR's
http://www.sunherald.com/mld/sunhera...s/15185936.htm
There's Joe Horn and there's... - Joe Horn is the Saints' clear-cut No. 1 receiver going into this season. The rest of the receivers, now that's a different story. Devery Henderson has been lining up with the first team as opposed to Donté Stallworth in the two-wide receiver sets. Payton was clearly displeased with Stallworth, the Saints' 2002 first-round pick, during the team's June mini-camp. Stallworth watched from the sideline in two of the team's five practices. Stallworth also skipped out on some of the Saints' offseason workouts following the mini-camp. "(Stallworth) has made some progress," Payton said. "I'm trying to get more consistency and see him try to get better. He's made some progress. With a number of guys we just need to see them keep getting better. He's getting better. We need to see him get better." Stallworth is in the final year of his contract with the Saints. At times, Henderson has struggled to catch the football during training camp. Payton remains optimistic about the former LSU player and said Henderson is working hard to improve. Injury report - Wide receivers Bethel Johnson (hamstring) and Michael Lewis (knee), along with punter Mitch Berger (groin) were the only players to sit out of Wednesday morning's practice. McAllister (knee) and Stallworth (groin), along with Berger and Lewis, sat out the afternoon practice. Quarterback Jamie Martin and defensive tackle McKinley Boykin returned to the team after dealing with personal issues. This was Martin's first practice since training camp began. |
Any word on how Chase Lyman is doing?

He ruptured his ACL, PCL, MCL, and LCL signing an autograph for a disabled child. :P |
He was doing well in minicamp... and after that there's been no word on him. I've been wondering myself. Hopefully JoeSam can get us some news!
|
Joe Horn said last night on the NFL channel that there are a few guys at minicamp that could very well work themselves into the #2 & #3 WR positions not named Stallworth or Henderson.

Don't get to down on our recievers. From what i've seen here at camp, we have some guys that can line up and play. Lyman,Moore,Hass,Colston and even Henderson have been impressive to me and others here at camp. The problem as I see it is who to cut and who to keep. All these guys can play, if you get the ball to them.

The most impressive outta of the slackers were DH and Jones...Jones has blazing speed man, he catches acrobatic balls very nice...He seems to go after every ball and he runs good routes...Once, he snabb a terrific catch in traffic right in front of Foreman...
Payton and the WR coach wants to get DH the ball...They have been working with alot! He has been catching better, definitely, even coming from that injury, he has been running like lightning...Those deep balls, oh yeah he was getting opened and catching them with ease! Yeah, believe it, hes coming along this yr...Also he and AMAC have been staying extra late practicing on their skills, AMAC gunning them in their and he grabbing them...Now we all know how hard and fast AMAC can throw, AMAC will and has improved and DH will hae pure hands along with that speed if he keeps working hard like this |
You won't get any arguement out of me about how hard Devery is working. I'm seeing him every day. I just hope he doesn't try so hard that it hurts him. He's consentrating so hard, you can see it from a mile away. This young man wants badly to make this team and make an impact. I for one believe he'll make it.

I don t like the reports I read of AMac making special teams tackles....Scary....The man is an athlete yes, but a tackler??? Say it aint so....I wanna see him making tackles like I wanna see Sully ahead of me at Picadilly
