With our line so inexperienced in playing with each other and the ridiculous amount of explosiveness at our skill postions doesn't it behoove us to take a page from Mike Martz and the 2001 St. Louis Rams and just try and blitzkrieg people and run up the score?
Kurt Warner was made into an MVP this way, with quick three step drop routes, lots of slants, and lots of getting Marshall Faulk the ball out in the open. If we don't want Drew Brees bloodied and left for dead by mid season we had better put our world class speed at WR and Reggie Bush's, Faulk like, atheleticism to work. If you remember St. Louis defense wasn't all that great as well but they still won a SuperBowl with their offense. Also, Warner came in very quickly after Trent Green went down and didn't take much time to "gel" with the offense. My only question is: Is Sean Payton smart enough to throw, throw, and throw again with the team we have assembled? |
