LB Fujita brings steady play to Saints

JACKSON, Miss. â€â€� One of the first moves the New Orleans Saints made this offseason, other than to target and sign two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Drew Brees to a six-year, $60 million contract, was to shore up their shaky linebackers corps.

Getting Brees under contract was the big one. Almost lost in the shuffle that mid-March day, however, was the signing of former Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys linebacker Scott Fujita to a four-year contract.

The key word is “almost.�

Fujita, who has been starting at strongside linebacker since joining the team, was the team’s most significant addition in free agency after Brees. One and a half weeks into training camp, he’s proving why as one of the steadiest defenders day after day in grueling two-a-day workouts.
