I still don't get why people think so highly about Owens' football skills.
When was the last time you saw a great catch by Owens?
When was the last time you saw a clutch catch by Owens?
When was the last time you saw Owens throw a great, no, a good, no, a block downfield on a running play?
What has any team he's played for actually won with him?

Owens is only good at running after the catch, because he's got speed.
I said it before and I'll say it again, he's not even the best receiver in his division, heck maybe not even in his team for that matter.

Look Tobias.....I hate T.O.'s pre-madonna attitude as much as anyone, but as for skills on the field? No one can question T.O.'s ability as a receiver. We can all say when was the last time, but the guy didn't play last year. This tends to make people forget. The last time anyone really got to see T.O. display his skills was the Super Bowl & we all know Philly wouldn't have even been in that game if it wasn't for Owens on a freshly surgically repaired ankle. And as for the speed thing.....I don't remember anyone ever bragging about his speed. As a matter of fact.....people were excited when he went to Philly about him besting his own personal best 40 time. A blazing 4.51 :?

The catch he made as a 49er where he was sandwiched in the endzone to win the game and put the 49ers in the playoffs is an example of your 1st 2 questions.

The Eagles going to the Super Bowl.

I hate him, but he's a pretty good WR.

Thank you for proving my point :)

The catch you mention was made in 1998. (It was in a Wild Card game)

In 2004, Owens got hurt in week 8 (IIRC), and did not play a single down until the Superbowl. The Eagles had reached the NFC championship game the previous 3 years without Owens, and again reached it in 2004 and that time won it without Owens.

Well, yeah, we all can say "when was the last time" and "he didn't play last year", but 1998? Come on! How about 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002? No, It's Sharpie, pom poms, standing on the star, insinuating Jeff Garcia was gay, and poisoning Philly's locker room. That's what people rememeber about Owens.

What do you mean by Philly wouldn't have been in that game? As in the Eagles wouldn't have reached the Super Bowl, or as in the Eagles would've lost by more than they did?
Because if you mean to say the Eagles would not have reached the Superbowl, you'd be wrong.

Ok, lets all take a Valium here. There aint no doubt that T.O, or as they call him here in Dallas................... T.O. Owens........ is a great receiver. From what I hear, he has looked good at camp (when he hasn't been on the bike with his Lance Armstrong suit on). The major problem with him is he is an "I" player, playing in a team game. It is never his fault, only someone elses. He will blow up here in Big D, no question about it. After Bledsoe bounces 2.4 balls per game to him, he will go off on any and everyone. Look at Philly, and see what got them to the bowl 2 years ago. It was a combo of Mcnabb, T.O, and a good run here or there. And T.O was a major reason because the team was essentially the same team from the year before. T.O. was not there during the playoffs, but he did help to get them there, there is no doubt about that. Where he made his mistake was getting upset when after being out, he got his feelings hurt when Mcnabb was getting all the pub. He is a powder keg ready to explode, but he is also a great great receiver. It is his attitude from here on out that will determine if he makes it to Canton, or winds up being a foggy memory. If he had Marvin Harrisons demeanor to go along with T.O.'s god given ability, he would be the best there ever was, hands down. Dallas is T.O's last stand, and I would bet my supervisors next paycheck (you don't expect me to put mine up do you..,...jeez) that he will go kaboom within the first 2 months of the season. And being here in Dallas, what a fun time that will be.... hahahahhha....what evil lurks in the shadows...it is T.O. and he is death...............die Cowgirls die :biggun: ( I was doing so good there then the medicine wore off..so much for the pullitzer prize)

quick addendum, Bledsoe will bounce 2.6 balls per game to him......... accept my deepest apologies for the shotty info....

I mean the Patriots would have blown the Eagles out if it wasn't for T.O. He was the losing team's MVP of the game!

ghandi you must have a short memory. philly didn't take advantage of several key opportunities to put points on the board early. they were driving up and down the feild on the pats. that was not a result of t.o. playing or not playing. whether or not they can get to the super bowl again is another story. not so much because they lack t.o. as much as the fact that some other teams have caught up to them. they are definitely a strong competitor for the division i would think.

Well, I couldn't tell you a big catch Marvin Harrison, Steve Smith, Randy Moss, or Chad Johnson made off the top of my head, and they're all pretty good.

Trying to say whether or not he's a good WR based on how many spectacular catches he made isn't a good barometer. The numbers he puts up when he plays a full season are, though.

cajuntexcop 08-21-2006 12:17 PM

But none of those guys compare to Danny Abramowicz...................Ah yes...they would have died if they would have run into a TV camera head first...the wimps
