I know who our first round pick will be next year
 

I think everyone can agree that with our problems on the OL, LB, DL, and CB, as well as the beast of the schedule we play this year against the NFC South, NFC East that we are going to have a top ten pick next year. I am making a guarantee that one of the following 5 gentlement will be in black and gold next year. Without further ado:
1) Joe Thomas - OT - Wisconson. Jammal Brown meets the RT position again.
2) Paul Poslusky - LB - Penn St. AJ Hawk of the 2007 draft
3) Levi Brown - OT - Penn St. See above.
4) Marcus McCauley - CB - Fresno St. McKenzie moves to number two corner and Fred Thomas moves to nickel back.
5) Ryan Harris - OT- Notre Dame. See above.

If we somehow suck worse than I think we will it might be tough to pass on Brady Quinn but you can mark one of these five guys down in permanent marker for next year. If I had my druthers it would be Poslusky.

The draft is 8 short months away.

None of those guys sounds bad. But if we would end up in a position where we could pick Brady Quinn we should be able to trade down.

They'll probably be around the 10th - 13th pick, so I say Glen Dorsey. Like I said in another thread, NFL scouts had the kid ranked as one of the top defensive linemen in the nation even though he was on LSU's second team defense.

I can see you're high on Dorsey. I like the guy and read a lot of good things about him but he hasn't even played a full season yet. To label him a high round first as of now is kind of far fetched.

I'm just telling you what the pro scouts are saying. :)

Sydney Rice will not be eligible for the draft...He is a sophomore this year...he was a true freshman last year

My pick would be Poz...LaRon Landry

Yeah picking Landry would just be genius, considering Safety is our deepest position on the team with Harper and Bullocks likely to be studs for years. Look, I'm an LSU fan along with a lot of other people on this board, but it occurs to me that some people are such homers for LSU that they make rather ridiculous statements in regard to talent level and Saints needs vs. non needs. If we were to pick either Russell or Landry next year in the first round we would be the laughing stock of the NFL. Anything other than OT, LB, CB, or DT would be UNACCEPTABLE.

Oh yeah, that's right. But he could still come out early. It would probably be the best thing for him if he has a good season. Scouts always critique seniors the most.

If not him, or any other defensive tackle for that matter, we have to draft a linebacker.

Um, we signed 100 safeties in the offseason. And then we drafted one. I am sure he threw Laron Landry in as a joke on that fact. Don't take yourself so seriously bro.

I'm quite certain he wasn't joking, but in the remote case that he was then I salute him for the hilarity of his comment. My rant was mainly pointed at all of the LSU homers on this site who feel we should stock up round 1 - 7 with every LSU football player we can get our hands on regardless of team need or talent level.

And what's wrong with that? We HAVEN'T done it for 40 years, and only one playoff win. Time to figure out a new strategy, no? :P

Re: Russell - NFL scouts disagree with you. Watch and see after he has the season they're expecting him to have.

I can't remember if Rice sat out a year, or what, but I know I've heard multiple times after this year it'll be three years since his HS class graduated, and by the rules that makes him eligiable to come out.

If we suck really hard, the pick has to be Posluszny. If we're mediocre, he probably won't still be on the board, so we should go after a DT probably, hopefully Frankie Okam is coming out.

I'd still say get a LB TheDeuce

it would be a mistake for him to come out this year. unless he sets the world on fire, Though DT next year is a bit thin.
