Typical Brooks.....

Only cares about himself:

Brooks tries to put Katrina, New Orleans behind him

JOSH DUBOW

Associated Press

ALAMEDA, Calif. - While much of the country is remembering the horrors of Hurricane Katrina, Oakland Raiders quarterback Aaron Brooks is trying to forget everything that happened in his last season with the New Orleans Saints - both on and off the field

"I'm trying to cleanse myself from New Orleans so I don't even try to go back and talk about it," Brooks said Monday, the day before the one-year anniversary of Katrina hitting Louisiana. "I don't even try to remember that year. It's in the past, it's over and it's done with. I only have a house to sell so I'm moving forward. I try not to think about any of that stuff."

Eighty percent of the city was swamped when the levees broke after Katrina blew ashore on Aug. 29, 2005. Virtually all 465,000 residents of the city and roughly 1 million more in surrounding areas were forced to flee; much of the housing was heavily damaged or destroyed; and the death toll in Louisiana was close to 1,600.

Brooks said even all the coverage from newspapers and television stations doing retrospectives and stories on the rebuilding effort along the Gulf Coast hasn't led him to think about what he and his teammates went through at this time last season.

"No because I'm not from New Orleans," he said. "New Orleans was my place of residency for six years during the season, but I only worked there. I'm not a New Orleans native, I'm from Virginia. So I just worked there. It was a job and I have a new job. And I'm very excited about being here and I look forward to doing some wonderful things here. ... I don't even try to go back. I don't even talk about it."

Brooks was in the Bay Area with the Saints when Katrina hit. The team had fled New Orleans early to come to California and practice before an exhibition game against the Raiders. When the Saints left Oakland, they went to San Antonio, where they practiced for the rest of the season while playing their home games at three different sites.

RE: Typical Brooks.....

The best thing for AB is put things behind him. He was not confident in the O-line is what his problem was... he is getting confident in Oakland and having some good games and 4-0!

Cassady37 08-29-2006 11:20 AM

Talk to me again at season's end about how great Brooks is doing. He did the same thing when he was here, great one or two weeks and then....well, you know the rest.

hagan714 08-29-2006 11:31 AM

do not worry he will smile and forget all about us

TheDeuce 08-29-2006 11:59 AM

He's such an idiot. I hope he never mates and reproduces.

mjf150 08-29-2006 12:02 PM

Appearantly, the Raiders are really impressed with Brooks, having signed Jeff George, and all.

And I know how much of a factor a team's Pre-Season record is on the Regular Season, just ask the Colts. What were they, 0-8 before they played us?

jdiggy 08-29-2006 12:03 PM

Brooks will be smiling at all his teammates and the crowd from the bench this season.

WAY TO GO AB! YOU REALLY ARE A GOOD PLAYER!

xan 08-29-2006 12:11 PM

Brooks vs. a guy who hasn't thrown a pass in 5 years. I'm sure Vegas is having a hard time giving odds on this one.

TheKillerBs 08-29-2006 12:16 PM

Remember the year he threw a big fit because he wasn't elected to the Pro Bowl?

He lost my respect when he did that. Not very professional at all, even if he did deserve to go, which he didn't.

RockyMountainSaint 08-29-2006 12:37 PM

What a Scumbag.
This is definitely in character for the jerk.
How can anyone defend this Nutsack?

TallySaint 08-29-2006 02:33 PM

You guys sound like old ladies gossiping at a quilting bee. Smoking fat stogies and stinkin' of gin. :D

I do like that AB feels the need to constantly give ample evidence for all the things I accused him of while he was here.

I hope Jeff George replaces him by week 2.

After everything that happened with the hurricane last year, how does Brooks say that New Orleans is just a place that he used to work? Is it possible for him to 'work' in NO for 5 years, yet have no friends or people in the community he cares about still affected by the hurricane? Seems awful apathetic to me.

Until we get tired of it. So, never.

Let's see.....Oakland signed a bum that's been retired for like 5 years to compete for the QB job w/ AB. What's that tell you about Brooks' skills?

Most Saints fans who are members of this forum don't want to. The problem is with the posters with the man-crush who cannot let it go and insist on posting about it.

Saying SCREW YOU to AB is cathartic.

It's like exorcising your demons!

I think the main problem is the members who read the title of a thread, see it says Brooks, and still feel the need to enter the thread and say "Why are you talking about Brooks?" DON'T CLICK ON IT!! Wow, simple is as simple does.

TallySaint 08-30-2006 09:53 AM

Why are you talking about Brooks?

I know that the dude is gone. I was actually hoping to see him do decent even though I was happy to see him go.

Here is the reason this is news:

On the one year anniversary of the worst natural disaster in our nation's recent history, this dude thinks his tough year being a millionaire playing football should trump all of the other issues going on in New Orleans. So, he is washing his hands of the city because he got booed a couple of times and had a really bad year in 2005.

He still has a house to sell, he says. He only just worked there, he says. Did he not develop any feelings for the people of this community? How bout the displaced children for Christ sake? How bout the people who paid to see him who don't have houses?

What a classless, narcisistic, piece of crap. Have fun in Oakland. Screw New Orleans. Move on with YOUR life AB. Let the poor, homeless, displaced people who bought your jersey figure it out.

These are the exact same retarded quotes that made him less than likeable over the years, but this one touches a nerve surrounding a real issue in the Gulf.

I hope Jeff George (who I hate) takes his job.

TallySaint 08-30-2006 10:33 AM

Couldn't the Raiders done better in signing a backup/potential starter? I guess Al has really gone off the deep end. I'm thinking someone like Bouman would be a better choice than George, in my opinion. Some of these QB's active in the league could be had for a song.

But, then again, maybe they have no intentions of playing him much. Just a body in camp.

I dunno.
