"rob will be flying to new orleans tonight to join his new team the saints. rob was told by his agent that payten couldn't believe his good fortune when the cowboys released rob and took him after the texans passed. i know alot of dallas fans didn't like rob, but i think the saints do and will give rob every opportunity to succeed. unlike the opinions of some, i think rob played very well in preseason and has a tremendous upside.

i truely hope that the o-line gets the job done for you and dallas has a very successful season. i can't help but feel that rob's career will continue to flourish with the saints and all will end well.

see you in dec, no way i'm missing that game."

This signing I like... he'll provide solid depth for us.

D24pick 09-03-2006 04:33 PM

Straight up, we are way better on O now with a starting RT than keeping Stinchcomb there

Saints | Team claims Petitti off waivers
Sun, 3 Sep 2006 15:50:24 -0700

Todd Archer, of the Dallas Morning News, reports the New Orleans Saints have claimed OT Rob Petitti off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys.

I like the move......The O-line held it's own in pass blocking with some quick decisions by Brees. Now here's hoping the run blocking gets better to open some holes for thunder and lightning

cool

Why did the Cowboys let him go? Was he a starter?

I'm hoping these moves help us.

BTW... there are 6 safety's on our team. HA!!! Anyone find that peculiar?

LKelley67 09-03-2006 08:43 PM

Petitti, 6-6 327, started 16 games last year! The Boys had O-line probs and you don't get waived for nothing. Still, it is someone with experience that was sorely lacking.

BlackandBlue 09-03-2006 09:23 PM

best move we made in the past few days. the guy has experience starting. while it has been said that the cowboys line last year wasn't as well off as it could have been, they brought in fabini to compete with petitti this year, so i can't knock the guy for losing his job. plus, he's still young.

D24pick 09-03-2006 11:18 PM

He was good, he just didnt show anything to the C-boys this offseason

TheDeuce 09-04-2006 03:21 AM

He was ABSOLUTELY awful last season for the Cowboys. He was definitely the weakest link in the Cowboys offensive line that was pretty bad. He got heat pretty much on a daily basis from the Dallas Morning News and the radio stations in Dallas. That probably explains why he got cut. However, he is still young, and has a lot of talent. I definitely like the move and I think if he isn't just thrusted into the starting position (like he was last year when Flozell got hurt), he can develop into a solid OLineman.

I believe this will turn out to be a great move. He hada asolid year last year asa rookie thrown in the fire. My friend is a cowboys fan and he is really pissed about the Cowboys letting him go.

LKelley67 09-04-2006 09:26 PM

what Parcells had to say about him after the cut...

Disappointed in Petitti?
No. You just can't keep 5 tackles. I had no idea that Colombo and McQuinstan would turn out this well. So they changed the situation. You have to make a decision. He had a real good offseason, and he is a better player now than what he was. But I did what I did because I thought these other two guys were better and I wanted just one experienced guy at right tackle. That's what it was.

D24pick 09-04-2006 10:28 PM

I don't think he was awfu, LKelly just summed it all up
