Saints Trivia Versus the NFL

With the season looming and thinking that we historically suck against the Browns, I went and looked at some of our all time records against other franchises. (I was right, 3-11 against Cleveland.)

So, throwing out our 1-0 record against the Texans, who can guess the two teams that we have a winning record against in our history?

We're 17-11 against one and 5-4 against the other.

We're .500 against a few teams, but I find it amazing that we only have a leg up on 2 teams.

Dallas, by contrast, has a winning record against 23 teams.

Man, we are some loyal, masochistic fans.

RE: Saints Trivia Versus the NFL

Nice topic to focus on! If I give you my address could you send me some ANTHRAX throught the mail, or blow up my house. Geez, let's not focus on the Saints past history because in case you haven't heard, it's 2006!

Sports history is littered with teams that had decades of losing and frustration that finally turned it around. It is all about the organization. I'm still not high on Loomis and the front office but it has always been a question of how much it was them and how much was Haz. Payton? Looks good so far. We'll see. We might call for his head in a couple of years or he may be a future HOF coach that turns the wayward NO franchise into a perennial contender.

Tampa Bay and the Colts on the records. For some reason we have always played well when traveling to TB.

I'm not trying to dwell on negatives. Just saying that I knew we had been bad against Cleveland in the past and it got me thinking.

These tendencies do tend to bear out, regardless of administrations, decades, whatever.

For some reason, some teams historically play good against others. Does that mean we would be favorites against the Colts today? Absolutely not.

Stats are what they are. I'm a realist. I think we are as good as the Browns (as does Vegas with the 3 point line in their place), I'm just afraid we may come up short this Sunday.

And Kelley, I love where our team is headed. Loomis may not be a great talent guy, but my feeling was always that he deferred to the coach alot. Look at the change in approach this off season versus the past. To me, it points to the difference between a guy who looked at athletes versus a guy who looks at football players.

I think Payton's approach will take us somewhere in the next couple of years. 2006 will be a year of progress, but I just don't see us in the playoffs.

I think its TB and Atl.

Ya know....living in Miami and being both a Saints and Phins fan allows me access to another clever NFL Trivia Question. I always ask people this question and they are stumped all the time. I always ask them this.....The Miami Dolphins first play in franchise history resulted in a kickoff return for a TD. Which team was the ONLY other team in NFL history to start a franchise with that same result? Hee hee. Cool huh?

Maybe they shouldn't play the game Sunday! Why risk anyone getting injured? Just sit both teams and let everyone watch the manning brothers play. Give Cleveland a 1-0 record and Saints a 0-1 record. Dude, I hope you know I'm being sarcastic...New Orleans will beat Cleveland. I have seen the Browns in the pre-season and they have a rookie QB (we have a 2004 pro-bowler), They have Winslow (whose talks the greatest game in the league and hasn't done sheit), we have Horn, Bush and Duece. We have Faine (their starter last year), they have a 4th stringer! We have Grant and Smith at the ends..(they have two old guys who are not that great on their D line) Their starting corner McCuchen is out for this game! We should let those chumps in C-land know that we are no joke....!
