Gameday Ritual
So, the day is almost upon us and I am ready.
I am a cheeseball and thought some of you may want to throw in your gameday rituals for this Sunday. My basement was finished in December and so were the Saints. I didn't really get to enjoy it. All my Saints brethren have retreated from Atl back to the southern parts of Mississippi, so I will probably watch the game alone. Sunday, it will be me, a 48 inch plasma, a 12 pack of Abita, and some sort of food to soak up the beer. My wife and child will be safe and sound upstairs...the dog will be hiding as he always does during Saints games. (I swear, he hears the pregame and knows it's about to get ugly.) I will wear my gold Deuce jersey. I will not open a beer till kickoff, cuz I drink em reeaaaal fast once the action starts. I will get hammered, I will scream at the TV, I will try not to break stuff. Hopefully, I will emerge from my dungeon at 4:15 with a 1-0 Saints team. I'm sure someone can do better than that :) (Damn, I'm getting old.) |
RE: Gameday Ritual
this is my gameday ritual ..........i always watch the saints game at Cronies located in simi Valley, Cali. Since the game usually starts at 10 in the mornin i try to start o drink at 9.........The reason why i drink is that i am tired of people calling the the Los Angelesd saints.........and two when i tell them that i am a Saints fan ,two words exit there mouth .........I'm Sorry . Like New orleans has some kind of disease or a charity case. All i ask of the Saints this year is pride .cause i am a Saints fan in a foreign region and every day it gets harder and harder everyday to root for a team that is the worst in the history of the NFL. Please saints do us proud and lead us somewhere besides the back end of the bus.
HAKIM DROPS THE BALL...........HAKIM DROPS THE BALL, Brian milne might have fallen on it at the ten yard line YES THERE IS A GOD!- Jim henderson |
RE: Gameday Ritual
Win are lose I don my current Saints ball cap and head down to the nearest Hooters. This year I'll more than likely be at Hooters on Hollywood Blvd and watch our Saints lose the opener to the Browns.

Hold it right there. You don't need an excuse. Cheers! :D |
.... and if you start feelin' guilty about drinking at 9 - remember that Alaskan Saints fans are shiot faced before breakfast.
|
Start cooking around 10:30 (usually fried chicken breast strips), pop open first beer at 11. Usually by noon kickoff I am on the third or fourth beer, by half time usually pretty hammered. After the game is over I usually surf the net for a few minutes and pass out while trying to watch the 2nd game... LOL

Am I the only one who has trouble watching any of the late games after a saints loss? When we win, I am so happy I can just laugh through the rest of the evening. When we lose I turn the TV off and cry. |
Wake up...purr with the wife than hit the litter box. Down my antidepressents. Call the usual crew for TV. They bring the beer and I provide the 9 foot HDTV screen for good measure. Eating is optional.

When possible, I try to have cajun food or buffalo wings before the game. I try to keep my schedule open for the rest of the day/night after the game. If the Saints lose (and especially if they look real bad like last year in GB) I will go work out or go running to release the pent-up frustration. Or I will just to take a long hot shower to wash away the stain of the loss :-).
I used to have a Ricky Williams teddy bear that had to watch the game w/ me, but it stopped working after the Saints playoff win. Sometimes it seems the Saints share my karma. If I am having a crappy day those are the days the Saints play bad and then it's even a worse day. |
My ritual for tommorow is to wake up early..wake my daughter..get a quick bite , slip on my oldest pair of jeans and my Swilling jersey...hop in the minivan, pop in a DVD for the kid and head to Cleveland with a buch of food and start giving the Browns fans the scoop on whats about to happen: "Reeggie Bush is going to devistate their city more than Art Modell did when he took their franchise"! I let you know how that works out...I'm willing to take a few punches for my squad!
|
I normally wake up early on Sunday mornings, drink lots of coffee while watching anything on TV concerning the NFL, I then get to the computer and get the latest on the Saints , I setup my fantasy football lineup,
I then get ready for ESPN SportsCenter and from that point forward for the day I sit and watch football games until late Sunday night... |
I work midnights until 730 am so i come home watch nfl matchup then nap until noon.
get up order pizza and start the inebriation |
I wake up bout 7 a.m...(Pacific time)
Fry or grill something. 2 beers before 9... Talk crap to my friends till bout 9:45 Give the wife a kiss and shut the door to the "saints room" pray. more beer. kick off , cut the cell phone off and won't sit down till half time. usualy i'm either realy pissed or nervous as hell. Damn I love football. |

Pretty funny to me that everyone's ritual is so similar to mine - with all the same elements. Beer, bad food, Saints merchandise (t-shirts, jerseys, beercups, hats, etc.), dogs hiding, wife and kid "out shopping" (also hiding), FOOTBALL!
Nothing like it in the whole world! |
crackin' open my second beer as we speak...
LETS GEAUX SAINTS!!! |
I just talked **** to all my friends...
(voice gone)...... beer #13 I love Sundays..."best day of the week" |
