New Saints; the difference

Well what a game, and to actually win it was great. It's great to be able to win without having smiley throw INT'S and constantly get into the redzone only to end up with no TD'S. How many other of you Saints fans can see the difference at QB? we were in the redzone 6-7 times and got a TD & 3 fg's/ our QB only had 1 INT and several horrible throws.

There is one thing I know about us Saints fans, we're equal opportunity bashers! We all know at some point Brees will make the ridding ourselves of smiley look good; we just aren't sure when?

You had to expect a little bit of growing pains with Brees, considering coming off the injury and into a new system. What I liked best out of him was his game management, and the rest will come.

The overall Game was Good For the Saints. but picture all them field goals or even a couple converted in to Touchdowns. Losing Karney and Joseph was something i know the saints didnt plan, but if we did have Fulllbacks it would have been a real blow out.......

Just Glad for the saints win and agree with Shrike on the Brees Observations

AND ARE YOU PEOPLE HAPPY LOOK I PUT IN PERIODS......GEEZ

DEFENSE!

What a difference with no VENTURI!!!! We could have won that game even with Brooks with that defense!

The lack of a fullback really showed. I hope Karney can come back.. otherwise we need to really start looking around.. how about David Kirtman off of the Seahawks PS?

How about this; it wasn't Venturi, how about the 3 new LB'S that are actually NFL calibre LB'S and can read and react.

The LB's played well, but how about those DT's? Young had 3 sacks. He & Hollis Thomas also did their jobs against the run by clogging up the middle & holding a 1,000 yd. rusher to a meager performance. Harper & Bullocks played their safety positions well also. CB's? Well.....we need help there or they're going to keep being beat like a drum.

it was a good win. brees has a way to go i agree. we did enough though and the d played really well. we will struggle against the better teams. we won though and that is something we couldn't do nder haz. we lost to the bengals one year when they were the old bengals. we have some nice peices in place for the future.

who cares about brooks. he isn't here anymore and he wasn't the answer. it doesn't matter what drew does because that will never change the fact that brooks was not the answer.

I am honestly shocked at the team I saw on the field today. The offensive AND defensive units seemed to have great cohesion with as many changes from last season as they have. That's rare to see in a week one performance. The D-line was dominant, Scott Fujita looks like a steal of a free agent, Bullocks looked impressive, and Roman Harper had his moments. Brian Young looks like he had something to prove with the monster game he had today. I think teamed up with Thomas on the inside, he may be able to prosper. Shanle and Simoneaux were more than servicable (can't wait to see Danny Young in there, though).

As far as offense was concerned, the missing fullbacks really did hurt in the redzone, however the clock management reminded me a lot of the days of Jim Mora. The only difference was a little more mix of screen and downfield passes on early downs. McCallister was IMPRESSIVE! He looks like he's back, and that's great to see. Colston looks like a 5 year veteran on the field. Henderson seems to have improved greatly. Lastly, what else can you say about Bush? The guy is as fluid as water. I watched every one of his touches with my jaw dropped in awe. Horn and Brees really need to mesh better. Brees will improve as the weeks go by, though. Once he gets in the hang of the system and the players around him, he'll be a tough QB to beat.

All in all, this game was a HUGE success. It showed that the Saints could beat the teams that they SHOULD beat. That is already a monstrous difference than the Haslett-era. With the way the Pack was handled by the Bears, this Saints team could definitely start the season 2-0 if they play with the same determination, excitement, and heart that they showed today. Today made me even prouder to be a Saints fan!
