this pisses me off.....

Im not sure if this has been posted...ive seen alot of power rankings, but this one is crap.....

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5962520

We are ranked dead last! How is that? We beat a not so bad Browns team. Are u telling me we are worse than San Fran, Houston. The Jets and BUffalo???? Damn. I mean, I kno we aint the top ten, but we sure as hell aint dead last.......

mighty12 09-13-2006 07:28 PM

Yeah I don't get this..............

Another win that feels darn good in Week 1 but wouldn't mean quite so much in Week 10. Of course, given how Green Bay is playing, they could be 2-0 in a week. NEXT: at GB

24. PACKERS 0-1 31 27 24 32

or this

23. BROWNS 0-1 23 28 16 6

yeah the whole report os BS............It is like seeing 6 articles on Auburn and the big goose egg for LSU..........This is an East Coast media bias and I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

TheDeuce 09-13-2006 07:36 PM

Dumb. This guy's name is Schatz.

LongTimeFan 09-13-2006 07:48 PM

"No Respect"

CHACHING 09-14-2006 06:28 AM

I Love it..
Stealth mode boys....Let's keep them Saints flyin way under the radar
and as they attempt to "dis" us,
we just continue to gel and get stronger...
IMO.

If the Saints win this weekend, maybe he should consider changing it to "Schitz".

I'm guessing I am the only one who didn't just go straight to the ranking, and actually tried to read the reasoning. And the only reason I did that was cause I repsect football outsiders and the work they do. It should be noted, this is not foxsports ranking but football outsiders' ranking. Foxsports just posts it on their site. Anywho, read this:

Quote:

This year, we're introducing a new rating that combines our preseason projection with early-season results to get the best prediction of how teams will do for the entire season, based on analysis of 2001-2005. Believe it or not, after one week, analysis of the past five years shows that the preseason projection is 22 times as important as Week 1 results when it comes to predicting ratings over all 16 games. That's why these ratings may seem a little strange, with teams that won this week showing up lower than teams that got blown out like Oakland and Tennessee.

TheDeuce 09-14-2006 08:48 AM

Still dumb. If anybody projected the Saints to be worse than the Raiders, that person deserves to get kicked in the nuts. I wish I could take a shat on Schatz right now.

saintswhodi 09-14-2006 09:22 AM

We also have to consider that the preseason projections from our projection system don't always agree with conventional wisdom or even the personal opinions of the Football Outsiders staff, including myself — particularly when it comes to Oakland. Nonetheless, our projection system is the most accurate available, picking more playoff teams over the last two years than any other.
It's called a preface. They are letting you know ahead of time, the rankings you see are not weighted on normal Team A beat Team B criteria week by week. I mean damn, you'd think we just beat the Steelers. We barely beat the freaking Browns. With our schedule, we may very well be the last team in the league come the end of the season, which is how they are PROJECTING their rankings, not gut shot reactions to week by week performance. Lighten up. It's not like people's opinions of us will change after barely getting by the Browns. They were a called back 75 yard TD pass from possibly winning. Keep perspective here.

SaintFanInATLHELL 09-14-2006 10:35 AM

The last time I checked, the NFL decided nothing based on rankings. So what does it really matter.

The only thing that matters is handling our business against GB.

I'd just like to add to whodi's comment:

Quote:

While the teams are listed in order of projected final rankings, using the formula that includes the preseason projection as well as Week 1, the column marked 2006 Only gives each team's ranking based on just one game
The Saints are actually ranked 9th after Week 1.

32. SAINTS 1-0 9 17 5 17

TheDeuce 09-14-2006 11:14 AM

Still dumb. I created Power Rankings, and I will tell morons like Schatz how to use them....

WhoDatQB 09-14-2006 11:23 AM

I am tired of hearing about the 75 yard pass that was called back. Drop it already. If there was not a hold there then Frye would have been eaten alive and would not have gotten the pass off. Find some other reason to dog the Saints, but not for a legitamate penalty that called back a long play that if the penalty had not happened the QB would not have gotten the ball off.

Are the Saints a top ten team right now? Nope. However they showed improvement in defense no matter who it was against, and hey will only get better as a team as the year goes on. Like I said a couple of months ago, I figure the Saints to be 7-9 or 8-8, too bad the schedule is soo rough looking or it could be better. Of course I figure the NFC East will not be nearly as good as other people seem to think.

Do you have an alternate universe machine that tells you that's fact?

Who's dogging the Saints? I am trying to add a grain of salt to this we have a dominant defense talk. It was Cleveland. Are you also tired of hearing about the fumble that negated any chance they had of scoring at least a FG right before the half?

Again, alternate universe thinking. I am going by what DID happen, not what someone assumes WOULD not have happened.

I guess it's just above your level of comprehension. :P :P

The other Power Ranking from Fox Sports has the Saints listed at #18, which is far different from the #32 by Schatz.

18. Reggie Bush’s “Madden 07 ratings are way off. He should have 99s across the board. The rookie didn’t break any big ones on Sunday, but still managed to completely dominate the game.

Worry not.........

about rankings and such. Enjoy the rise from the ashes, to the rise to the top of the rankings by seasons end. I can see it happening, but I don't get pissed off by some uninformed hemmoroids opinion. He'll lose credibilityfor saying stupid things.

HEY EVERYONE NEEDS TO BOYCOTT POWER RANKINGS...

They mean NOTHING!!! This frustrates me and pisses me off when people get upset over them! Its someones OPINION... not to mention some of you think we beat the sorry Browns we are going to the Super Bowl this year... WE BARELY BEAT the Browns and we are liable to walk into GB and get toasted!

jdiggy 09-14-2006 04:56 PM

utter crap ranking

Savant 09-15-2006 12:35 AM

I think the Browns game was encouraging that we pulled the win out when in the past we would have sabotaged ourselves, but it isn't by any means a sign of we're going to the playoffs. Not that it couldn't happen. Teams turn around so quick in this league with free-agency. But at least we know we're getting better. But we're definitely not the worse team in the league by a long shot. But I think the Alanta game with humble us. I'll be satisfied if we're even "in" the game and not blown out. We were 3-13 last year.

Euphoria 09-15-2006 12:42 AM

we won the first game of the season last year...

We have 15 more games so with a little luck we should at least get back to 3-13 this year.

SaintFanInATLHELL 09-15-2006 07:29 AM

I still stand by my definition of a successful season this year. It has two major components:

1) Beat the teams we are supposed to beat.
2) We are competitive in our division by splitting each of our rivialries.

This should translate to 6-7 wins. Anything else is absolute gravy.

BTW GB is one of the teams we are supposed to beat. And I hope that we can be competitive with the Falcons. We have Brian Scott who was a Falcon last year. Maybe we can use some inside info from him.

3-0 would be sweet no matter what happened the rest of the year.

SFIAH

LKelley67 09-15-2006 07:43 AM

SFIAH, I agree, 3-0 would make the season just about. My preseason prediction was just that, 3-0 finishing 6-10. I hope for more, that they are the cinderella good feeling story of the year. The success I ultimately hope for is more than wins or losses- solid good play. Do that, then the wins will follow. That is the legacy of most HOF coaches. Sometimes they win more, sometimes less but always have teams prepared, motivated, and playing hard. There are so many variables with injuries, simple ref calls, and the bounce of the ball luckwise, etc., that no one can predict Patriots runs or a Steelers dash from the wildcard spot. What you do see is those kind of teams consistently meeting that solid play criteria though. It has been just one game, just a spark to a flame. Already though in camp and that game I have seen some good things that have not been evident with this organization in what seems like I don't know when.

That's priceless. We have to get lucky to be as good as last year....... right

OH LOOK! THERE'S THAT ALTERNATE UNIVERSE MACHINE!

Saintuary 09-15-2006 01:20 PM

Who cares what this

willie sniffer thinks. All I can say is we need to be ready. We've always lost games like this Sunday's' game.. We should be stomping their butts and I'm hoping we will but we always seem to want to help out a team that's down.
