Michael Haynes Cut
that was fast...
The Bears' former first-round pick, the 14th player chosen in 2003, was released by the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday after they told him he is not healthy enough to suit up. Haynes injured his back in training camp and said it was not properly healed when the Bears released him Sept. 2, two days after he appeared in the final preseason game. He intends to file a grievance against the team. The Saints claimed Haynes on waivers, and he was excited about a situation in which he could work in a rotation behind defensive ends Charles Grant and Will Smith. But he was not able to practice much in New Orleans and did not dress for the Saints' game Sunday at Cleveland. ''The doctor looked at me here and said I was never healed,'' Haynes said. ''This is just insane. It's not as bad as it was, but I still can't play now.'' Haynes can pursue the Bears for all or part of the $610,000 he was scheduled to earn this season. He will seek another medical opinion on what course of treatment he should seek, but he also is focusing on legal action against the Bears. http://www.suntimes.com/output/bears...-bearnt14.html |
