Big Willie and C. Grant are going to light the 'ole boy up. I like me some Brett Favre, but not this week! If our defense can put the pressure on Fav-ra he will throw the ball down field , in the air and up for grabs! He made a poor decision to return to the league.

I agree with 95% of your post......even up until the "he made a poor decision to return to".....but then you said "the league". Personally I think returning to the PACKERS was the mistake. It would have been cool to see him traded to a team with an immediate need at QB but with a chance at being a contender (Chicago, anyone?) Favre, in my opinion, can still go. Then again, I give him props for wanting to end his career in Green Bay. There's something to be said for loyalty.

I just don't see it... coming off a loss and we aren't as good as people seem to think. Geez we only beat the sorry-ass Browns BARELY! Farve's passes aren't crisp as they use to be and they seem to be hanging... results INT's.

Yeah, this should be the refuge of the true FAN. But when the hell are we going to stop having to listen to Euph and his ridiculous comments about how awful the Saints are. I personally am getting sick and tired of looking at a thread that's trying to point out some positives about our beloved Saints and having to read Euph's ridiculous and childish posts about how awful they are. It seems like he's doing it in on EVERY SINGLE THREAD. Here's the deal Euph, we beat the Browns. The Browns are better than the Packers. Sure, the Pack will be pissed and come out gunning, but give our boys a little credit, we won the first game with a new coach, new QB, new RB, and an entirely new LB corps. The Saints aren't a playoff team, nobody's saying that, but we're not the worst team in the league, that belongs to the Human Turnover's Raiders and the Packers.

I really don't like that alot of people discredit a win versus the Browns. They are a much better team than their record has dictated last year. They lost alot of late season games by a hair and played tough. They have a young mobile QB, with a above-average run game, and solid offensive weapons with B-easy and K2 back. And their defense is not bottom feeders as well.

Alot of people picked them to beat up on us, and it was a solid win. We beat a team supposedly better than us and higher in the average of initial power rankings. I for one was very impressed with the first showing discipline and execution our team displayed.

Green Bay can be great or terrible, it just depends on which way they want to show up. They have some serious defensive play makers and if Favre gets enough time he still has the arm to make big plays happen. I really don't think that we can overlook them even though I think we match up well in alot of aspects. And I do agree that if their o-line is at all shaky we will have a much easier time getting to Favre than we did Frye.

I don't like discrediting wins against anybody in the NFL.

Anyone who does that needs to think back a couple of years when we had 7 wins against playoff teams (including 2 against the eventual champs) and missed the playoffs because we lost to the crappy lions, browns, bengals, panthers, etc.

So, if you are going to discredit a road win against a team that we are about equal to, you don't know this league.

And we did not BARELY win...we dominated and the score was closer than it should have been. Go look at the stats. We played a hell of a game and kicked too many field goals.

This weekend's game is either gonna get the GB organization into true dissarray or Favre is gonna prove that he should still be there. I expect it to be a tough game. If we can somehow win this game, I still don't think it means playoffs, but it would be a nice start.

I'm afraid the pack may play inspired football. My reason for hope? Mike is calling the plays :)

Isn't your last sentence what directly led to us BARELY WINNING.?Make no mistake about it, we barely won. If not for some Browns mistakes, we may have lost. Did we dominate them? We sure did. But we still barely won. And I don't care what anyone on here is saying trying to thump up the Browns, they suck. They were playing with their 4th or 5th center, on a line that isn't that good to begin with. Charlie Frye IS NOT an elite NFL QB, or even close, and Reuben Droughns is a former FB turned serviceable RB by a stint in Denver. Winslow is coming off being out two straight years with injury, and Braylon one year with injury. I am damn happy with the win, make no mistake about it, cause that is the kinda game we may have pissed away in the past. But for pete's sake, let's not make it more than it was. We will get better, our young guys will get more experience, and we will continue to grow as a team. But it was just the Browns, a bottom feeding team. We have the big boys coming up after GB so we will know for sure where we are then. Not much to be learned from beating the scrubs except we are definitely more focused, have a leader on O, have some serious talent, and seem to be cutting out a lot of the mental errors. We will be tested soon enough.

If I may play the part of mediator here, I'd like to say that I understand both sides of the issue here.

Shackney, I appreciate your enthusiasm. I love the Saints as much as you. I'm guessing that Euph is of the idea of 39 times bitten 38 times shy. Show me some consistency and wins and I'll believe it when I see it. I'm excited that there have been some changes made on this team that apparently go in the right direction. I, like Euphoria, keep my expectations low and hope to be surprised by the end result. It doesn't make him less of a fan. Just a trepidous one.

All that said, this site appeals to most of us as a sort of gentlemans site. We've seen our share of idiots try to ruin it with name calling and angry tirades and, speaking for myself, it's nice to have an informative site with arguments that make points without attempting to piss each other off with belittling statements.

my point is that we played an all around good game and saying that we barely won makes it sounds flukey. we outplayed them in every facet. we could have played better and gotten in the endzone. we were fortunate to win given the way the game went, i'll give you that. but at some point your preachy tone gets out of hand. you and i have been on here for years and i still marvel at your ability to jump in on one point of a 2 paragraph post and talk to me like i'm f%%king stupid

i am not heralding the browns as a great team. i would say that we are a relatively equal team. vegas thought so too. nobody here is saying the freaking browns are great.

i love when people downplay wins in this league when they have seen this team consistently sleepwalk for entire halves of games and lose to lesser NFL teams.

we went on the road and won a damn football game against one of the lesser opponents on our schedule, like we hoped we would. we played a good game and the defense took the ball away to preserve a shaky lead.

Who is taking the Packers lightly? Is saying and hoping that we will win the game taking them lightly? Just because we don't hope to lose every game like you seem to want us to doesn't mean we are taking anyone lightly. I think you'd rather be right about your prediction than have the Saints win. And who said anywhere that we're going to the Super Bowl or even the playoffs??? I don't think anyone here ever said that or even thinks that. But why do you continuously slight the Saints, a team you claim to be a fan of, in favor of seemingly every team we face. We barely beat the Browns, sure enough. But like Deuce himself said in an interview, if we score TDs instead of FGs, the game isn't even a game. We aren't that far off from being decent, but most of us are intelligent people and we know we aren't there yet. You don't constantly have to try to prove you're the smartest guy here.

I don't think Farve will get "destroyed"....that is a little over the top, but we certainly don't need to read the opposite, that the Saints will get destroyed. What happened in GB last year has nothing to do with what will happen this year. These are totally different circumstances. This is a different team, most notably minus a QB that threw quite possibly the worst pass that I have ever seen, to one Al Harris. Could we lose the game? Absolutely. And I think anyone who is a true Saints fan knows this, because we've all been through the same cycle before. But you know what, we just might win the doggone thing. Not outside the realm of possibility like you may think. If you think they are destined to lose all the time why even be a fan?

I think we're in for a dogfight on sunday. I can't believe we're favored. the packers suck, but they are like a cornered beast right now, looking a very serious change (favre) in the face. favre will see it as a put up or sit down type of game.

Which I have said previously as well. There's nothing preachy about what I am saying. You are disagreeing for no good reason. We did barely win. So what. We won. The Steelers won the superbowl on some horrible calls, you think they are crying about it? They are toasting their trophy every chance they get. For ME, saying we barely won is not taking a shot at the team. It's 1) the truth and 2) shows us what we need to work on, and in addition, showed us where we did well. I think all of us noticed spots in the game where in the past, this team would have found ways to blow it, but they didn't. We all have to be proud of that. Get a grip dude. No one is talking down to you.

I don't get why everyone is jumping onboard the one win against the sucky Browns... I am just keeping things real. A win is a win sure... but if you are going to beat the playoff or Super Bowl drumms now, you are setting yourself up for disappointment when we really haven't beaten anyone.

Again...no one is saying we're going to the Super Bowl or playoffs. In fact you're the only one who keeps mentioning it...don't know why.

Holy crap, how dense can one person be? How many times have people, including myself, said that we know this team isn't a playoff team. We acknowledge that fact, but does that mean we can't have a little optimism for this team? With a new coach, new QB, Reggie Bush, new LBs, etc.? I mean, honestly Euph, if you can't find any joy in a win (even if it is against the Browns who by the way aren't as bad as you make them sound), then what are you doing here? Considering that the Browns are obviously going to the Super Bowl this year, I think it makes the Saints' win that much more important and valid.

IMO we're not a playoff team but I see improvement this season thus far and that's all I can ask for right now, the playoffs will soon be in reach for the might Saints..

OK, Lets chill out. I'm in Panthers territory here and they are in a big stink here about what happened to them last weekend. I asked them again what they thought there record will be this year after that game and they are all saying 11-5 or 10-6 and possibly still making it to the NFC Championship again. I told them that we will get to 7-9 and I might change that to 8-8 if we beat the Packers. Basically, what I am saying is I will get more confidence in the Saints after each game. This is a rebuilding year!!!!!!! If we get to 8-8 in our division then we have done great. I know Brees had a hard time with the Chargers (Administratively) but he worked it out, so give him a break. 2001 season here for the Saints, I got a Aaron Brooks Jersey!!! Now is time to burn it because I cannot bear to wear it even though it is the Saints. I have hope for this team. Let's have hope for this team. By the way, if I had no stress because my parents were near by so I could play College Football. My intensity for the game would increase!!!! Let him keep the HEISMAN TROPHY.

Hey, I'm just happy the Saints won. It gives me some optimism going into the next game. I don't have a lot of expectations for this year because it is a re-building year, however, I will take as many W's as possible. I really think the true test for this team will be the Falcons.

I think what they are saying is you never have anything good to say about the Saints and we all know there has been a lot of good things that happened to the Saints this pass off season...

I'm right there with ya, jnormand! I predicted 6-10 for this team, and I'm still predicting 6-10. However, there is definitely a huge noticable difference in this team than last year's team. I know it is tough to really see that after one game, but if the Browns game is any indication of how they may play the rest of the season, then they will be exciting to watch. Whether the Browns suck or don't suck, the Saints picked up the win. That's what matters. If you want to be negative about a win, then that's your business. You have that right. If you want to think this team is going to the playoffs, once again, that is your right. There is one thing that I've learned since I've been a member of this site. 99% of the time, Euphoria is going to say something negative about the team. That's just his style. You guys just have to take him in stride, but with a grain of salt. When you fall into an argument with him, you are doing exactly what he wants you to do.

well obvious they haven't been around long enough to know me yet at all... I have said lots of things positive, favorable, whatever. I can say what I want as long as I adhere to the rules of the board. I have been a member of the board for a long time now, even under a different name. The difference this year is that I choose to keep things in perspective! I say 3-5 things keeping it real and I get attacked - I guess no one has done there research to find out what I prediced our record to be this year.
