Who is Over Hyped Here?

This is the big rival of the division, more than the Panthers or the Buc's. Heck we use to battle for the last place finish bragining rights for years. As long as we beat them the rest seemed okay not to be last. Now 2-0 makes it different.

We were hoping for 2-0 but we really never expected it. But here it is, the real test. Or is it? Is Atlanta that good or is Carolina and Tampa bay really that bad? Are we the only real over hyped team on the field?

Tampa and Carolina spent most of the off season was spent bring in OL help. Here are the QB and RB stats they have faced so far.
1. QB's
Chris Simms, Six interceptions, three points. Sacked 3 times. QB rating 40.
Jake Delhomme 1 interception, sacked six times and has zero TD passes. QB rating 61.5
2. RB
Cadillac Williams - 59 yards on 23 attempts average 2.6 yards a carry. team total 66
DeShaun Foster - 80 yards on 28 attempts average 2.9 yards a carry. team total 172
DeAngelo Williams - 74 yards on 13 attempts average 5.7 yards a carry.

Atlanta managed to beat Panthers by scores a of 20-6, despite Carolina throwing in 3 fumbles 1 was lost, Penalties-Yards 8-45 to boot. Not much, but the timing of those killed more than 1 drive. Jake threw 1 interception that game and was sacked 4 times for 36 yards. Falcon's played alot of 8 in the box with Steve Smith out of the game. The OL is awful, but they did play better against Vikings. The Viking D is good too.

Then there was Tampa 14-3 win. Tampa's other loss came at the hands of the #1 D in football Baltimore. Atlanta was fumble happy with 3 lossing 1 this time. One lucky bounce kept it from being 2. Penalties-Yards 8-99 for tampa and 8-83 for Atlanta. Simms threw 3 interceptions and one of those was in the red zone. man that was an ugly one. Then again Simms has been pretty ugly with Int's. I am not happy that we have to play them after thier bye week. Here again the Falcons played 8 in the box and dared Simms to beat them.

My point here is Tampa played Atlanta to a draw in most respects. Total yardage was almost equal 351 382. Not near as dominiting as they were in Carolina. They played almost perfect there. In the NFL that will get you wins.

With all the praise the media is giving Atlanta as a "Legit 2-0 Team" I had look and see if they are that good or is the media covering thier butts for saying Carolina and Tampa would be so good before the season started. It is a little of both. But the BUTT covering is a winner here. Atlanta has beaten one team soundly that shoot itself in the foot. The other team gave the game away. We can win this game. Are we the " 2-0 pretenders" that the media is saying? I say no. I am not saying super bowl either. Two road wins in the NFL is hard no matter who you playing.

To support this the OL and the secondary will have to play better. They can play well enough to contain the Facons and lead to the win and that is by no means a streatch of the imagination, I am calling for a close game and Drew to be the difference here. If they dare Drew to pass with 8 in the box and leave one on one coverage, they will pay for it. This is the first team they will face this year that has a seasoned veteran QB and a full cast of offensive weapons..

If the defense can play like Tampa or Carolina played we can beat them. Atlanta was 1-3 in the red zone against Carolina and 2 of 6 against Tampa. The big plays and turnovers killed both. Our secondary has to tackle and body slam all night long. One or two personal fouls are exceptable as long as they fire up the team. No side line cheap shots please. Those work against you.

Look for Atlanta to get rushing yards between the the 20's. We will have to have a bend do not break mentality here. Blitzing will probly be done to contain Vick. Taking away the boot leg as much as possible. That will reduce the number of cut back lanes available for Dunn to use. Forget about Vick beating you with his arm. I am not saying he is a bad QB but it is not his strength. Bad tackling has contributed to alot of his passing stats.

I hope Tueday morning I can see what kind of Butt Covering the media will do next. Egg on thier face will make for a perfect breakfest.
