Keyshawn Comments

“I think that team is doing extremely well, said Johnson of the Saints. “They have a purpose to play, and that purpose is to give some of those fans something to be proud about while they’re going through what they’re going through.

But there is more to football than the emotion of playing for a city and a region devastated by Hurricane Katrina. That emotion can’t last an entire season, as the Saints found out last year. There has to be something more sustaining than that.

“There’s a lot of new energy there, said Johnson. “They’re off to a fresh start with a new coaching staff. They have some veteran players over there who can play the game. (Wide receiver) Joe Horn can play. (Running back) Deuce McAllister can play. When you have leadership like that on your football team, all you need is someone like (Saints head coach) Sean Peyton to come in and give you that energy. That’s kind of what happened when we won the Super Bowl in Tampa.

Another thing that happened when Johnson won the Super Bowl in Tampa Bay was that the Buccaneers took care of business at home. The Bucs lost twice at Raymond James that season, and won their remaining six games by an average of 15.1 points.

“You want to try to dominate at home as much as you can, said Johnson. “If we can get this one at home, that will get us off to a good start (for the rest of the season).

It should probably be noted that Keyshawn's comments are in quotes. The other stuff is from the article's author.

Keyshawn's comments on various topics, starting when he signed with the Panthers, have been gracious and hardly self-serving. What happened to the guy we loved to hate?

He is right and wrong. the dome must become the 12th man this year to keep the team going. The dome was once the most feared stadium to play in because of the noise. I hope yall can regain that feeling. There is nothing like it.
Keyshawn has forgottin one thing here. This team knows what the long haul really means. Other teams in the NFL do not see what the saints players see every day. The will-power of the city and the fans rebuilding every day. No folding here.

Hagan....re-read the post just above yours. Not all of that was said by Keyshawn. Only what was in quotes. Whoever was interviewing him made most of the negative comments. Keyshawn said nothing but good things, which proves to me he's become a big softie in his old age. Saints need to capitalize on this. HA!

I always liked Keyshawn, becasue he said what he thought and it usually made sense. Also, he tried to help poor and oppressed people, since coming into the league. There was an interview with him a few years ago, about him bring business to poor areas. I never understood why some people dislike him. He is a good player also.

Not Keyshawn:

He's right, the emotion by itself can't last. It's the winning that is sustaining the emotion. I was high for 3 days not because of the emotion but because of the win and the WAY they are playing. Oh, yeah, the loss is coming but I don't fear it.

I agree. Which is exactly why I am happy to see intelligent scheming, discipline, composure.

I have heard alot of people say that Monday was just emotion. Those people don't know football. Look at the defensive highlights. That was a gameplan that was drawn up and executed to near perfection. The only truly open guy all night was crumpler in the endzone and he dropped it. Hell, Mike even had good coverage on the deep ball lelie caught. It was just one of the 3-4 good passes Vick threw.

Steve Young was one of the few guys who got it right. He said forget emotion. These guys played hard and smart. They maintained their lanes on D and protected the ball on offense.

Emotion tends to lead to extra mental mistakes and breakdowns. Anyone who has watched the Saints this year knows that's not what is happening.

My only complaint right now is we need to get in the endzone more. We're kicking too many field goals. But the D is also forcing more FGs, which is nice. I think the offense is still coming together. And I like where it's headed.

Oh, and thanks for the kind words Keyshawn :) When i saw the thread title I naturally assumed he was talking ish.
