Will the Saints make the playoffs?

That's what ESPN is asking on their poll today, the entire country agrees at 87%

Not a lock, but geez we'd have to have a collapse of epic proportions to not win 4 games the rest of the season, especially considering we have TB, SF, Baltimore(who hasn't looked impressive lately), and Carolina in our house. I'll be surprised if we end up missing the playoffs altogether.

It's early but the way things are going for the Saints and the way their playing I think they have a shot at it, there's 10 games left to play, figure we win 5 out of the 10, that would put us 10-6, IMO, 10 wins puts you into the playoffs....

We need to stay healthy and keep our confidence up. We would have a good shot.

I'm with you let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.

It's easy to get carried away with the Saints..

How are we getting ahead of ourselves?? Any other team goes 5-1 and we'd say they have a good shot at making the playoffs. Why can't we say the same about our team? Geeez

When exactly are the rest of us fans allowed to expect success from our team?

It's the same thing with the national media....like people are stiil waiting for us to start looking like the Saints of old, and no one wants to jump on the bandwagon full force yet.

All I'm saying is one week at a time.

I'm with you here GR. I think it's OK to start thinking playoffs as fans. As long as Payton keeps the minds of the players on the next game. most fans look at 5-1 and start the talk, we should too. This is not the Saints of days past. We have every right to be thinking playoffs and keeping the front office and coaches accountable.

I think it's ok for fans to think playoffs but keep in mind that things turn for the worst in the NFL sometimes.
Just don't want the players to think playoffs right now, to them it's one game at a time which I know Payton will drill that in their heads..
It's fun just thinking about it..

Interesting poll. Especially the national perpective. Even Georgia had to bow down  . But I'm sure some of our transpants helped skew that. Our biggest doubters are the Carolinas  . Those suckers swear they got a team up there! If I wasn't so old school, I'd be tempted to argue Corolina has now over taken Atlanta as our biggest rival. But I lived through too many Morton Anderson fieldgoals, Dione Sanders interceptions, and pots of Falcon Gumbo to ever say that! :D

Our second biggest doubter is Vermont! What the heck do they know about football? When we field a ski team, then I'll respect Vermont's opinion.

I know of the collapse of which you speak. But that's why I say we need to make sure the FO and coaches know the playoffs aren't our future, they're NOW. We as fans can't now sit back and say it's been a great season win or lose the rest of the way.

Philly fans, GB fans, NE fans (recently), ALL NYC fans expect a playoff team EVERY year. It's time for us to start. Before the year started I would've been happy with 8-8. Now I'll be disapointed with anything less than 10-6. If we miss the playoffs because of tie-breakers that's one thing, but to miss them because the team slid backwards, NO.

Go and look before the season and I predicted a 9-7 or 8-8 team, and thought we would fight all the way trying to get a playoff spot. I think we can get to 10 wins maybe 11 with the way Peyton has this team playing together. Brees' leadership and determination were never in question only his physical health.

IMHO, it will depend on the weekly INJURY report. If the Saints stay HEALTHY...they have a chance at the postseason!

No doubt some on the team are playing way beyond their capacity. I'll take it. though!

True. Don't wanna jinx it by naming specifically who can't get hurt, but I think we all know who that is.

It was very noticeable that Duece pulled up with a "hammy", but worked it out and came back to PLAY. Some players would, and have, missed four games because they lack commitment!

Bank on the fourth round pick from Philly...if they give Stallworth a new contract they are plain and simple STUPID!
