The old one is coming back to the game

Testaverde signed with New England at age 43, will dress Sunday. Enough already, he's done IMO |
RE: The old one is coming back to the game
Ok, I know Brady has had some bad games the last few but to sign Testaverde now and he will dress on Sunday??? I mean 5 years ago maybe, but now???
LTF you are right he is done. |
RE: The old one is coming back to the game
I thought it was a joke when I saw it...I am waiting to see:
Ravens sign Bernie Kosar Saints bring back Rickey Jackson, Frank Warren, and clone Dave Waymer with hair found in locker room |
I'm guessing he'll be more of a sideline precense, similar to Steve DeBerg with Atlanta in 1998.
I wish him well. |
Hey, the Flacons brought back Mort. Maybe they think old Vinny still has some of that magic left.
You guys remeber how SCLSU used their waterboy and it worked, but when Michigan used their towel boy they didn't fair too good. TACKELIN' FUEL! SMILE GUYS CAPTAIN INSANEO SHOWS NO MERCY! |
Maybe he wants to try a drop kick
|
It baffles me that Testaverde is still in demand at his age, and a guy like Shaun King, who brought Tampa to the NFC Championship game in his rookie season (he was one bad call from a Super Bowl, IMHO), never really got a good chance to show his potential.
|
He had plenty of chances... he just never produced.
|
Shaun was a starter in Arizona a few years ago I think.
As for Vinny, Parcells was once quoted as saying Vinny's arm would still be NFL-caliber "at 60". Plus I think he's always been a gym rat, and has kept himself in great shape. |
I never thought Vinny was all that...How many playoff wins did the guy have??? HE'll get ya 8-8 and not much more and that was in his good years...He is another first round bust...
|
In 1998 he helped the Jets get to a 12-4 record and took them to the AFC Championship game, where they lost to a very solid Broncos team (actually the Jets had a 10-0 lead in that game to start).
Vinny will never be mentioned in the same breath as Montana or even Favre, but I give him props for his longevity. I don't think you can call ANYONE who's lasted 19 years in ANY sport a "bust". |
And you really can't call anyone with 45000+ yds and 260 something TDs a bust.

As for actually playing Vinnie can still throw the ball. He just can't move or take a hit. So you'd have to max protect. Starter in the NFL? Not a chance. Backup insurance? Why not? SFIAH |
RE: Re: The old one is coming back to the game
All I know is I took great pleasure in sending the link on to a co-worker friend / Patriots fan out in California.
|
Why? It's not like he's going in the starting lineup tomorrow......if anything, his experience should be an added plus from the sidelines. The Pats had 2 QBs, now they have 3. Nothing much has changed.

RE: Re: The old one is coming back to the game
The Raiders should have thought about this one before they signed Jeff George in the preseason. Had Testeverde signed, though, it would have been his death wish with that porous offensive line.
