RE: Cowboy Fans Trashing Us

The Cowboys are a solid, deep, well coached team. I think that they are the class of the NFC, the Bears notwithstanding. It will take a monumental game from the defense and a mistake free game from the offense to stay with them. I'm not saying that the Saints can't do this, I'm just saying that this is a playoff game. Whoever wins this gets a week off, which as we all know, is nearly tantamount to reaching the NFC Championship game given the winning percentage of teams after 1st round byes.

On the road, severe playoff implications, both teams coming off impressive wins, this game is critical for both teams. The aura of invincibility begins and ends with a win this weekend.

RE: Cowboy Fans Trashing Us

I see no reason for us not to win this game. Dallas is a good team, and they are coming together around Romo, but if the Giants weren't in the state they are in right now, they would have beat up on Dallas last week. Romo's two picks in the first half should have set the tone for them to crush dallas. But they didn't capitalize on his mistakes, making it easy for Romo to comeback and forget about them. I think our offense is pretty good this year, if Romo make two mistakes like that in the first half, it will cost his team the game early on. You also have to remember that Dallas is coming off of an emotional win, and it seems that just about every time this has happen this season, the winning team losses to next week. On the Saints side, we are coming in on a two game winning streak, both were two of our best games of the year, especially last week, putting up 34 points with our two best receivers out, and or 3rd receiver having his worst game of the season.

RE: Cowboy Fans Trashing Us

I am more scared of the Dallas D than the offense...Demarcus Ware, Bradie James, Marcus Spears, and Roy Williams are all serious ballers...Reggie better watch out for Williams...Hope Colston is full speed and Horn capable of threatening...I think the Saints offense stands the best chance by spreading the field again with the pass and punching Deuce and Karney up the middle...I wish Branch was active to spell Deuce occasionally...

mikesaintfan 12-05-2006 08:09 AM

dallas cowgirls had an emotional win last week and will have a letdown.
Our D can stop the pass and the cowgirls have a poor run game.
Will Colston be back? if so I see 3 TD's for him as the cowgils try to stop Duece and the
"hoax"(their fans term not mine)

papz 12-05-2006 08:39 AM

They're getting all the press... being the class of the NFC blah blah. It's okay after we demolish them this weekend. If Chicago gets home field advantage, they're the team to beat regardless if Rex plays well or not.

Brann 12-05-2006 11:35 AM

Roy Williams couldn't cover a high school receiver. He tries too hard to freelance and make it onto Jacked Up. Their pass rush is considered a weakness by Parcells. They haven't faced an offense as talented and multifaceted as the Saints'. If Colston's back, I don't think this'll be much of a contest. And I can't overlook the revenge factor from Fujita and Shanle.

And the Cowboys didn't so much win that game as the Giants lost it. Two major brainfarts changed the game in Dallas' favor.

TheDeuce 12-05-2006 01:03 PM

Let's give Dallas credit, they're a good team. Terry Glenn and T.O. (when he's not dropping balls) are two dangerous deep threats. Witten is a good option at TE. Barber and Jones at RB are pretty solid too. That being said, I think that our defense will have a better game against them this week than in the preseason. This team was still coming together, still figuring out how to play with one another. Now, I think we could all see from last week, that they've gelled pretty well (and that was without Will Smith). They're OLine is suspect, and I'm looking for my boy Grant to have a monster game, and hopefully if Will's back for him to get some pressure on Romo too. I'm also not sold on Romo. People think he's the second coming, but that's just because they haven't had a good QB in SOOOOO long. They went through Quincy, Vinny, and finally Drew Bledsoe. These people just WANT Romo to be good because they're tired of seeing crappy play from that position. Do I think he's good? Sure, he seems to be a fine young QB. Do I think he's nearly as good as all the press he's been getting? Absolutely not. I hope we smash him in the mouth.

Their defense is also very good. They're very athletic and fast to the corner. However, that being said, I'm looking for a lot of Deuce up the middle. I was at the game 2 years ago and they just couldn't stop him. We need to run right at them, not to the sidelines on Sunday.

JOESAM2002 12-05-2006 01:53 PM

I live for this Sunday!!!!! May the best team win. As our members know I live in Texas but my heart (or what's left of it) is in New Orleans.

GO SAINTS!!!!!!

FatiusJeebs 12-05-2006 02:08 PM

The way I see it....the Saints can and will win this game if three major things occur. One, eliminate their the running game. Two, pressure Romo into bad passes. And three, NO TURNOVERS. I know that sounds like a tough task but its not impossible. These are the keys to victory. WE CAN DO IT!!! GO SAINTS!!!

Bise 12-05-2006 02:53 PM

Where is the Dallas forum? I would love to read what they are writing :)

Couple of good points here which I'll rebut.

If the team with the momentum of an emotional win, which you suggest comes into play, then every team in the league should be W-L, W-L, etc. Success breeds momentum and confidence.
The Cowboys are on a 5-1 roll right now, and 6-0 if you consider Vanderjagt's gaff against Washington. Luckily he only cost us one game during that stretch.

I understand your receiving corp is banged up right now. No one likes to see that as we would all prefer to play with everyone's best players healthy. Peyton is smart enough to know what he needs to do to compensate for this. We've been fortunate this season to only lose one key player - Greg Ellis.

I'm looking forward to a serious chess match between student and teacher. May the best team on the day win and no one has further injuries. These are two team that have the potential for a serious stretch run. The Bears scare no one.

Drop by and take a look. It's got to be easier on the eyes than this! How the heck do you make the font size bigger when you post?

SaintPauly 12-05-2006 03:39 PM

The one thing I think that will work in our favor this week, is the national spot light is all over the Cowboys right now, and we seem to be an after thought. Alot of people might see that as a bad thing. I see it as an advantage. Its seems like everytime the media has doubted our abilities this season, the team has showed up to prove them wrong. Dallas seems to be a lightning rod of positive, and negative attention every week.

As far as play goes, I think the match up begins in the trenches. Line against line. Whoever's side wins that battle, wins the game. At least that's my take.

ssmitty 12-05-2006 04:53 PM

i am in dallas as well and have been for 14 yrs.......
the true dallas fans are afraid of the saints, not the idiots that shoot their mouths off for the sake of being heard.......when you can trash talk and still respect the other team/fan, you are a true fan, period........we have enough to talk about without worrying who shoots their mouth off.......get in the stadium and start betting beers on who scores first and who gets the first sack and who whatever.............at the end of the game win or lose, you'll both be sheet faced. have a good time because simply put, now is the time to have a good time....smitty

DaPrezident25 12-05-2006 04:55 PM

To me this is a bigger rivalry game than the Falcons, i have relatives who are die hard Cowboy fans and i hear all this crap about Romo, T.O., Parcells, Julius Jones, and it all makes me sick, i cant stand the cow"girls" and never will. The Saints have the same record (not after this game we'll be 9-4 and they'll be 8-5 :P ) the Saints are lighting up the score board and i rarely see anything about the Saints everything is always Cowboy this Cowboy that, Reggie scores 4 amazing TD's and i tune to ESPN and have see Gramaticas field goal over and over??? I just hope the Saints crush this team so that the ESPN guys can have fun all week talking about how Our Saints crushed the Cowgirls

Jeebs,

Excellent analysis! #1 just got tougher with Thomas heading off the field for the next 4 games.

More specifically for #2 we need to keep Romo in the pocket. He's most dangerous when he scrambles out of the pocket and get an open look downfield. We'll need to play him like we played the Vicks the first game. Contain the pocket, then squeeze it up the middle.

#3 is the Saints key. The team is 5-0 when they don't turn the ball over. It isn't rocket science
in theory. But it all comes down to execution.

I've been listening to the NFL channel on Sirius Satelite Radio all day and all the pundits and prognosticators are giving us our props and the boys theirs. They think this will be a serious test for both teams. The winner will be in the drivers seat for the 2nd seed. On top of that we are the one team, left on their schedule, that has the cowboy fans worried the most. I do believe we can win this game as long as we don't turn the ball over and continue to make plays on both sides of the ball. IMHO the boys are overrated and I think they will have a hard time putting up 20 points against us, while I think we should score in the high 20's at the very least. I look for Bree's and company to have a big day in Big "D" and for the cowboy fans to be crying in their beer late Sunday nite. :crowd:

hagan714 12-05-2006 06:00 PM

Thomas out hurts
Colson out hurts
Horn out hurts
We will have to keep an eye on the practices this week. I am looking for a shout out in 30's for both clubs. Dallas is catching us at the right time thats for sure. I hope Henderson plays better

LongTimeFan 12-05-2006 07:05 PM

I normally voice my opinion on who I think will win the game when it comes to the Saints, I have no idea on this one, this will be one hell of a game though, playing on prime time makes the game a little more exciting..
I think the winner of this game will win by a small margin, 3 points.

As for the Dallas fans talking smack, well, Saints fans are doing the same I'm sure, it's all good though..

Go Saints

Get the win and head home

Exactly. You cant rightfully ***** about Cowboys fans bad mouthing us then turn around and call em the Cowgirls and how they werent even in contention a few weeks ago.

Fans do what fans do. Read this thread and many of the posts that have been made since Sunday. Fans will be fans.

About the game, this is definently not a gimme and if you arent going into this game giving respect to Dallas on both sides of the ball you are gonna be in for a long night. The Saints can absolutely win this game, but it wont be a blowout. I am looking forward to an epic battle and hopefully we come out on top.

saintsrule 12-06-2006 02:14 AM

Hopefully Deuce and Reggie can have a game like they did last week.

SaintPauly 12-06-2006 04:10 AM

I hate to bring this name up, but I must. Owens seems to always show up to play us, no matter who he's playing for. Which way is it going to go: Thomas on Owens and McKenzie on Glenn, or the other way around?

I have one: I think the Saints will take them.

Some observations:

1) The Cowpokes really haven't played any serious teams since Romo took over in the 1st Dallas matchup. Wins have come against Carolina, Tampa, Indy (well that's one), Arizona, and the now discombobulated Giants. They have not seen a multitalented, well coached offense like ours (except for Indianapolis).

2) We can actually play some defense. With smart game planning for Romo, i.e. keep him in the pocket and not let him roll out, and containing the running game, we should be fine.

Amen to that last statement. We need this win in the worst way. It'll keep us in the drivers seat for the #2 seed and finally put the Saints on the national scene for good this year.

The game is crucial.

We also can't forget the Romo is a product of Sean Payton, so if anybody knows Romo's weaknesses it's Payton... that's always comforting.

Owens caught eight passes for 84 yards against the Giants w/o a TD last week, he dropped two easy catches , in fact he leads the NFL in dropped passes.
Don't get me wrong, TO is a very good receiver but he's not having a good year compared to when he played for the 49'ers or even with the Eagles.
In the last three games he had 70 yards w/o a TD when they played IND.,
100 yards with one TD against Tampa and 84 yards w/o a TD against the Giants, I mean for TO this isn't much of anything, I just hope his avg. play continues the rest of the season, for sure this week going against the Saints.
Bottom line is that the Saints will disrupt Romeo so TO might not be a big factor even though he will have some catches and yards, we can't shut him out but we can slow him down.
