Jerry Fotenot may be a savvy and wise veteran, but Le Charles Bentley should be our center. Fotenot is definetley past his prime and he's not and has never been the the player Le Charles is and he's olny entering his second year. If you look at last years games, most of the pass rush pressure came right up the middle. Also, if you look Fotenot was not able to push his man off the line of scrimmage most of the time. I think Le Charles will be more effective in the running and passing game.

I totally agree that Bentley will be the Saints future at center........but not this year. If Fontenot doesn\'t re-sign with the team, Jacox will be the man at the position. He\'s been getting the reps on first team in camp, if I\'m not mistaken, and they are saying how fluid he looks. Seems to be performing very well. I\'ve now quickly become an anti-Fontenot signing. Not because I don\'t like him. I think Fontenot is great. I just think it\'s time the Saints went in a different direction.

I am also anti-Fontenot signing if only because I prefer to use the youth we have especially if that youth is at least nearly as good at the position as the veteran. Over time this will prove to make that youthful player better faster.

I guess I\'ll be the one to jump in here and disagree. I like to see little changed to the lines, both offensively and defensively. Reason being, these guys work as a team, and the longer they work together, the better they are. We already have made a change at LT for the coming year, I would rather not see another change until next year.

Fotenot has been around a long time and maybe he needs to go. The only problem I see, is without him the OL will have 2 years or less experience working togetheras a unit.

I disagree finally, B&B is right. We are probably gonna get Fontenot cheap, and the original plan was to let Bentley learn the calls playing next to Jerry for a couple of years. Then move Charles over when he\'s ready. I don\'t see the downside of signing Jerry for another year. While not spectacular, he is pretty solid and a cerebral center LeCharles could learn alot from.

I think we\'ll be an Excellent line with JF, but we\'ll still be pretty damn good without him.

Fontenot is intimately familiar with Aaron\'s counts. Keep him (unless he asks for the moon on his contract).

That\'s the problem, according to KFFL a while back, he was seeking the league minimum, or just above it, can\'t remember which.

Saints officials say they want to re-sign Fontenot, but they are prepared to go in a different direction if he does not lower his salary demands. \"They\'ve said they want me back, but I\'m disappointed with their first offer, their only offer so far,\" said Fontenot. \"It\'s near league minimum for a veteran.\"

So the Saints are offering a little over league minimum, but Jerry\'s not biting. I\'m for signing Fontenot, but he either accepts the deal they offered him back in March or he doesn\'t. Don\'t expect the Saints to bid any higher.

Jerry has an offer from Dallas and supposedly is waiting on one from the Jags. The Dallas deal is comparable to the Saints but the Jags deal could be a multi year deal which Jerry wants. I would like to see Jerry back, the center is asked to make all the line calls in our system, I like a vet there to do it. Bentley will start it is just a question of where. If it works out better to have Bentley start at center I still like Jerry on the team to help tutor him.

Saint5221 is right Jerry is waiting on what he thinks is going to be a long term deal from the Jags. If that doesn\'t come through, I think he\'ll sign with us. He said his best chance at a Super Bowl ring is with the Saints.

His best chance for a superbowl is with us. But our best chance for a superbowl is with Le Charles Bentley starting @ center. I have no problems with Fotenot backing him up.

As of right now Jacox is the starter. He has experience at the center position. I look for Bently to move next year. I can\'t see it happening before then.

Fontenot needs a one year deal. His veteran presence, and he must mentor to these young players. Now is not the time to make that cut. Although, I am sure if it will save a nickel we will do it.

joesam is right....jacox is the starter, he played for the chargers at center... bentley will be the RG..for now... unless fontenot resigns...then i guess jacox will move to LG? dunno... but i like the way it is right now.. even if fontenot doesnt resign we will still have one of the top lines in the league

Cloudy the post was....................Pak..where did Fontenot fit? Is he gone ?If not you you have switches at Rg and Lg and yet if Fontenot doesn\'t resign.....I am sorry,try again. You mean Jacox is the starter if Fontenot doesn\'t resign? Obviously Joe you don\'t think they will resign Fontenot,or else you feel Jacox is a better center.

what i said was... jacox is the starter at center for right now.. unless fontenot resigns.. then he will be moved back to the position he played last year which i think was LG.. i couldnt remember... but even if fontenot does resign that doesnt mean he will start.. jacox could always beat him out of the starting job...

Pak, God Bless You..........if Fontenot signs,there would be no reason not to start him. Or else they wouldn\'t have signed him. He would be a good tutor for Stinkycomb,whom may become our center........one day

blue ba- - - crystal or not reminds me of high school.............we could really use Fontenots experience and maturity. He may be able to teach Stinkycomb to be our next center. But he could really mentor to an underling
