Does anyone else hate Chris Collinsworth?

He was talking during the seattle game and stated he is not convinced that the saints are that good. he said Chicago is the favorite then he would rate the cowboys. Did he not see the game last week? never did like the guy.

RE: Does anyone else hate Chris Collinsworth?

I've never cared for him. Chicago's D is missing Tommie Harris already, and with Goodell's desire to prove he's not going to put up with any crap, Tank Johnson could wind up suspended for a while because he's violating his probation.

Bobaganoosh 12-14-2006 11:56 PM

I dont care what anyone's opinion is about the Saints. Everyone knows how potent our offense is, but our defense is what is holding us back in everyone's eyes. Come playoff time, strong defenses usually come out on top and that is the only reason people are skeptical of the Saints. It doesnt mean anything to me because i know our defense is better than they get credit for.

Brann 12-15-2006 12:05 AM

Hell yes. Neutralized Frank Gore...something not many other teams have been able to do.

SaintPauly 12-15-2006 04:11 AM

Collinsworth is a guy, who never accomplished anything in the NFL, and is somewhat bitter I think. He was released by the Bengals after a few seasons, and no one picked him up after that I believe. Now, his legacy will revolve around working for every freakin network, that has ever dealt with televised football. Think about it: HBO, NBC, Fox, The NFL Network, Fox Sports. The only company he hasn't worked for is ESPN, which is owned by ABC. He's like the Lieutenant Worf of football broadcasting.

As far as no one giving us credit, who cares? It has been working for us so far, why not let it be? I like being in "stealth" mode. Let them say that the Bears are the best all they want. As long as we keep winning, they can say that Detroit is better than us, and it won't mean a damn thing to me. All that matters, is who wins the last game, and that's a long way off still. Let's just get ready to scalp some redskins!

Ok Collinsworth was a good player.
During his NFL career, Cris Collinsworth surpassed 1,000 yards receiving four times (in 1981, 1983, 1985, and 1986) and was named to the Pro Bowl in 1981, 1982 and 1983. At 6'-5" in height, the extremely lanky Collinsworth often created mismatches against much smaller cornerbacks. In addition to his height advantage, Collinsworth was a legitimate "deep threat" due to his speed.

In Super Bowl XVI, Collinsworth caught four passes for 107 yards, but committed a costly fumble when he was hit by San Francisco defensive back Eric Wright.

In 1985, Collinsworth signed with the Tampa Bay Bandits of the United States Football League, but the contract was voided when he failed the physical due to a bad ankle. He retired after the 1988 season.

That settled.
He is a sales man for the NFL and very good at it. Hype and postive spins for the ratings game. Hats of to him in that respect. He may have jumped around the TV world but he is never unemployed.
Myself it is his cheerful pich in his voice that drives me nut.

He might not be giving us enough credit, but who has until last week. I've never really had any problem with him and he's better than a whole lot of other garbage out there.

I'd say Joe Theismann and Woody Page have been talking up the Saints most of the season. Early enough that I would not call either bandwaggoners.

Ignore the balding bastid.

Fleured 12-15-2006 09:13 AM

Woody Paige, Theisman and even Chris Berman have the boosters for our team where others can't help but be 'pragmatic'. But that is one of the many reasons I root for my Bayou Bruisers. I say let all the analysts flinch at a Saints' victory each week. Let Mariotti hesitantly pick the Saints only when it may be obviously safe to.

redjem25 12-15-2006 10:02 AM

I thought it was just me that got that vibe. He said he would rank Chicago (grossman who?) 1st then he said he did not know who he would put 2nd. Hello A-hole, did you not see last weeks game, who has the #1 offense?
My husband said he's a washed up hack that has nothing better to do than to talk smack. Even on his HBO show he always putting us down. A few weeks ago Dan Marino predicted a Saints/Chargers Superbowl and they looked at him like he was crazy. Well, guess what, we are about to win our division and on our way. Step by step, it could happen!

Cris- Get a life!

I know we haven't even started the playoffs yet, but wouldn't it be just totally convenient for that 'scripted' scenario to happen?

Brees and Rivers would be soooooo sick of hearing about the two of them being locked in Mortal Kombat because the media will be pitting them inside the ring.

He's never liked the Saints, or had anything good to say about them. Just ignore him, he lives in Cincinnati... nuf said.

AMEN!

Who cares if our guys don't get any love? That will make it even more sweeter in the end.

JOESAM2002 12-15-2006 11:57 AM

Chris Who????

daviddrake2 12-15-2006 03:18 PM

I've said it for years and I'll say it again, C.C. is a lousy talking head that seems to go out of his way to talk bad about the SAINTS. He never has given them credit when credit is do and I don't expect him to do so now unless he thinks it will benefit him personally. So, he will always suck in my book!

This is absolutely true. I've managed to identify the dedicated Saints haters. Cris Collinsworth and Mark Schlereth have been pretty consistent. Just a couple of weeks ago Sclereth said we'd MISS the playoffs. Not get a wild card, but MISS.

They are bitter because we messed up their playoff picks. Now they "love us" and have to say good things just to save face.

SaintPauly 12-16-2006 06:41 PM

I liked it best when he was on Fox. Bradshaw and Long used to give him hell every weekend. It was great. Maybe that's why he left, because on NBC he tries to dominate the conversation everytime now.

Hey! Bradshaw has been on our side all the time too. "My Saints" as he refers to them. Heh heh heh. You can take the coon ass out of the swamp....... I love Bradshaw. He's been one of my favorites for years.

Today, its Michael Irvin's turn to push down the Saints. He just can't see why Brees is considered in the running for MVP.

Mike, seriously. Step away from that crack pipe!
JUST SAY NO!

Nah I was watching Irvin today, he didn't say he couldn't see why Brees is considered in the running for MVP. He just said that LT should win it because of how emphatically he's breaking that TD record. He's a homer for RBs and WRs or whoever he happens to interview that morning.
