Will the Saints turn it Around after the Washington Loss?

Will the Saints turn it Around after the Washington Loss? Or will there be more problems down the line?

It'll help focus on the teams weaknesses.

Our run defense is porous.

It is possible to frustrate our offense.

It looked a lot like a playoff game. It worries me a bit

We've known for 3 months that our D sucks. It's no surprise. It is what it is and it's not going to get any better in the playoffs.

And we aren't going to look past any team in the playoffs. The team showed zero emotion and thought they could just win by showing up. This was just a case of taking Washington too lightly, and we aren't good enough to take teams lightly. The team needs to learn to play just as hard against 4-9 teams as they would against 8-4 teams.

Chicago just had 31 put up on them at home. The Giants are struggling with the Eagles and the Seahawks???? I live in Seattle and have seen every game. They are not very good at all. If we come to play our A game we can beat any of these teams.

There's nothing they can adjust at this point except for intensity. The Redskins just wanted it more than we did today.

This will be the LAST game we lose this regular season.

I have to believe that the Saints will rebound from this loss, I think Payton will make sure of that.
Question:
Why didn't we have anyone in the backfield on the last play of the game for us?, the Skins knew that it was pass all the way..

I was worried about this game all week. Since we were slapped around, it should be a wake up call. The D needs to be on and the O needs to hold on (to the ball). I'd rather have a letdown now & get keyed up for the streach.

GoldRush26 12-17-2006 05:48 PM

Last time we had a letdown game(i.e. a game we should have won but didn't) was the Carolina game, or some would say the Pittsburgh game. It was clear that they weren't focused today. Reggie dropped passes. He never drops passes. Colston dropped passes. He never drops passes.

I just don't see them having another performance like this.

It's like in the past, they kick ass on the better teams and they play sandlot football with the weak teams. The team that wanted it the most, won today. We could have had home feild advantage if the team that played the Cowboys had shown up.

No this team is nothing like the past. Letdown games happen to every team not just the Saints. The Colts come out flat some weeks. So do the Bears.

Every good team has bad games, not just the Saints.

We coulda had home field, and we can still have it.

NO Pass Rush

Grant was doubled team most of the day, so somebody else should have been able to get to their QB, but they didn't. If he was more accurate it would have been much worse.

No blocking for Brees. Whatever they did for a pass rush in the fourth quarter , we will see more of it.

Do we miss Hollis Thomas--YYEESSS--Big gains up the middle and poor tackling of Betts.

They will bounce back, but this game showed their is a long way to go on defense and some polishing to do on offense.

What a season they are having in spite of this loss. We have a solid football team that will only get better as they go. Another draft like this last one and they will be set for a number of years.

At least we are in most games till the end, how many times was it a struggle to have to watch the Saints after a half of football with their tail between their legs and no hope with our old QB. At ,least with Brees and Bush, colston etc. we are in the game till the end.

Our offensive playing calling looked extremely predictable. They'll go watch some film and we should be prepared for our stomping of the Giants next week.

We really missed Hollis. The Skins busted us right up the middle.

I won't say th Defense just plain out sucks. They did keep us within winning.

The whole game just sucked and the players know it. With Drews comments about winning the Division shows that. They know they did not play the game they should have.

I will say this again. Folks talk about how the Saints have played nobodys but remember, ALL of the guys playing in the NFL are there for a reason.....THEY ARE THE BEST. If you doubt it suit up and step on the field at next years try-outs. ANYONE can win on any given Sunday.

The Saints will bounce back and they will be alright. We do need to worry about the NYG. The loss to Philly will not set good with them. They are now in a Do or Die and that has disaster spelled all over it. Go Saints Go!

RE: NO Pass Rush

I disagree with the assessment that the defense sucks. This defense has held its own against some of the more explosive offenses in the league. With a little more help from the offense, there'd probably be two more wins in that total. The basic philosophy has been bend, don't break. While there's been too many huge running plays, the overall performance of this defense is miles better than the previous several years'. In terms of rankings, this defense was "last" (or at least near the bottom in every statistical category) in 2005, while this year it is 12th in total defense and 15th in the all important scoring defense (though it does get charged with the 3 interceptions returned for tds, making it 10th). Every defense has weaknesses, even the Bears (note that they're missing 4 starters for the rest of the season). And further, some of the yardage given up by the D was to Vick scrambling around, skewing things a bit since the teams we'll face in the playoffs won't have that dimension.

This team has faced the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th (twice) best offenses so far this season and has won 5 of the seven games against these teams.

I know I've been harsh and critical, but geez, even I've got to give respect to this unit's performance this year.
