the main question i keep asking myself right now.......
we're already in the playoffs..
two games to go for a possible bye, maybe one with the right things happening......while i don't want the saints to roll over and play dead, i certainly don't want to see a meaningless injury such as the one brees suffered last year in the persuit of one bye..... question; is the bye worth the risk? smitty |
RE: the main question i keep asking myself right now.......
The bye week is very valuable to the players, in that it allows then to heal and recuperate. Being healthy is everything in the NFL. IMO it not the catistrophic injuries to a few players, that degrade a team, so much as it is an acumulation of the pulls, strains and sprains to many. Having a bye week IMO provides a significant advantage going into the playoffs.

I'd rather have to play 2 games to get to the Super Bowl than 3.
Let our 1st opponent beat themselves up and provide additional tape. Wild card round teams just get tenderized for the top seeds. What worries me is that this team doesn't respond well to prosperity, whether it's a winning streak, playing a dog, or having additional rest. If a bye is secured, Payton had better have his foot on the throat of every player during that extra week off or it's going to be another one and done. |

The bye is more important for another reason -- if the bears get beaten that means the SuperBowl has to go through new orleans
