I've heard this ever since the Atlanta game. The biggest hole in this theory: why didn't Houston still chose Vince Young or Matt Lienart? To chose a non-skills position player as the number one overall pick shows that Houston was motivated by exactly what they said motivated them - they didn't want to have to pay tens of millions of dollars a year to quarterback or running back top pick .... again!

To be honest, I've wondered about that same thing. Not only did the Texans take someone they could have gotten in the middle of the 1st round, they announced it the night before which gave us the stage for the opening of the draft the next day. Why did they not want the spotlight?
