Are the Eagles our biggest competition for the SB?

I've been looking at the matchups and I feel pretty certain that the Seahawks and Eagles are going to win their games becuase Dallas is playing like poop and so are the Giants. If they both win do we play the Eagles?
The team that is the most complete and playing well besides us is the Eagles. Garcia has the O clicking and the D is back to form. It's going to be either us or the Eagles in the Superbowl barring major injuries.

No, we would play the higher seed which would be Seattle @ #3, Philly is #4. (If they both win.) But, I would rather play Philly again, than Seattle. I do not know why, but Seattle concerns me.

RE: Are the Eagles our biggest competition for the SB?

I have to agree that the Eagles are playing well on both sides of the ball. Jeff Garcia is having a excellent run as a back -up and I would consider them our toughest competiton in the playoffs. However, Jeff Garcia is 35, if the Giants give them a tough close game he is going to have to be superman to come in here and play a vastly improved Saiints defence, and with Hollis back he is going to have to beat us thowing the ball, if we can put pressure on him our offence should outscore them.

redjem25,

I just checked and Philly is the #3 seed so if they win we do play the Eagles? So you get your wish, but I'll start freaking out some. When we play our game consistently we can beat anybody so Payton needs to start game planning for the Eagles. Could be us vs. Chicago in the NFC Championship. If Seatlle beats Chicago the NFC Championship will be in the Dome. Boo-Yah!

Well, the thing I can say is that the Saints have improved since the last game against the Eagles and the Eagles aren't quite as formidable as they were when we last faced them. I'll be surprised and disappointed if the Seachickens don't beat the Bears. Grossman is a ticking time bomb of stupidity and erratic passing.

Yes, if they win we got Philly and I truly believe Seattle will beat Dallas so "Da Bears will play Seattle & lose.

redjem25 01-05-2007 02:58 PM

So pull for Seattle to beat Dallas and Phily over N.Y. I want the NFC game in the dome!

Fleured 01-05-2007 03:29 PM

I hope that there teams who hope to be playing the Saints rather than the Bears. I'm banking that no team still is taking New Orleans seriously and that our recent losses have been exremely flatfooted. A solid Payton game plan can really exploit that mindset. That and a riotous Superdome can make things that much more difficult for whomever we will face. So I guess a Seahawk game could be inviting, even though I said Dallas before..

go giants
i do not want philli

zioni504 01-05-2007 05:21 PM

I agree, Philly has got to be our greatest threat! They closed out the season with momentum with Garcia at the helm and their D is on fire right now. GO GIANTS!!

duece4pres 01-05-2007 05:56 PM

I would rather face anyone that Philly right now. They just flat out scare me. Garcia is on fire. But if it comes down to it, we'll still kick their ass

We need to root for the Giants and the Seahawks. If this happens we will play the Seahawks, and the Giants play Chicago. Then hopefully we beat the Seahawks, and the Bears will probably beat the Giants. Then we would have to play the Bears in Chicago. My reasoning is the other teams in the playoffs are all teams that we already played and beat. I think that it's alot harder to beat a team twice in one year, they already seen us. I do know that if this happens I'm not to excited about playing in Chicago, but I would much rather play the Seahawks or Cowboys than the Eagles who are very hot right now with Garcia leading the team.

LongTimeFan 01-05-2007 08:11 PM

I don't care who we play..
Bring It....

The Saints are playing well and with Horn and Hollis coming back we're a little better and that's scary for anybody who has to play us..

WillMacKenzie 01-05-2007 08:59 PM

I lick my chops everytime we play a "hot" team.

Coaches get fired when the Saints leave a team in its wake. It's that embarrassing.

zioni504 01-06-2007 12:56 AM

Man, why would we wanna play the Championship in Chicago? Makes no sense. If Chicago loses in the 2nd round (which is a good chance with the way Grossman is), the NFC Championship is in OUR HOUSE (we're #2 seed)! I couldnt imagine what would be better than us playin in the dome for the game that decides who goes to the super bowl!! We'd blow the top off

Bobaganoosh 01-06-2007 01:07 AM

Let's take this one game at a time guys. We have to win the first one before we can even think about hosting the championship game. I think all the teams that are in the playoffs should scare us...but at the same time, there isnt a team that we cant beat. No one in the NFC is hands down better than us, but they all have the ability to beat us. So lets take care of our first game before we get to the NFC Championship discussion.

UK_WhoDat 01-06-2007 10:35 PM

Philly is the hot team just now.
(It ain't the Cowboys! ).
So Philly is who we have to beat I guess.

I am hoping to absorb some of LTF's stuff of "bring it on" but I'm having a cardiac :saintsfan:

The Seahawks looked lousy against an extremely suspect defense and an offense that hasn't clicked since the Saints reenacted a prison shower rape scene.
