Duece on the trading block in offseason?
Deuce McAllister - #26 - Running back - 6'1" - 232lbs
News: Deuce McAllister will reportedly be available in offseason trade talks. Impact: We're not sure why New Orleans would want to get rid of him; Reggie Bush finished the regular season strong but benefits from McAllister taking inside carries. McAllister would likely command at least a second-round pick as compensation. (Thu. Jan 4, 2007) www.foxsports.com |
I can't find the article on your link. I think it's BS anyway. We still need him. I don't see him going anywhere.
I don't think we could get anyone in the 2nd round that could contribute as much as Deuce so I doubt we would do it. Reggie is great but not quite ready to carry the entire load. Keep in mind that he shared rushing duties at USC also. I see Deuce retiring as a Saint when his contract runs out.
Fox....pppfffffttt! ha ha... like they have any credibility, even in sports. Duece's numbers will be retired as a Saint!
I can't believe this is true, I mean even if Payton had plans to trade him he sure wouldn't bring it up right now being the Saints are in the playoffs.
This is the first time I hear this.. IMO it won't happen next year but a chance he'll be traded in a couple of years from now, wants Reggie really takes off.. |
This is barbaric! Duece has done nothing but put out for us. He belongs on the #1 offense in the NFL.
It's speculation from a Lions-focused radio show in Detroit.
Won't happen. Deuce is too much a part of what is right with this team. Nuf Said.
It's gunna happen, but not this year. But, with Payton, I think any player is open to a trade. He's not hung up on names or anything like that, if he feels its for the best interest of the team, then he's gunna do it. Depending on how he feels if they fall into his plan. Don't get me wrong, I love Duece, and I dont think that Bush is an every down back, but thats alot of money in our backfield, and eventually one is guna have to go, but it wont be this year.
Deuce is not going anywhere...he is untradable for many reasons...first of all, he is the key to our running game...he needs Reggie, Reggie needs him. The two of them playing side by side will prolong both of their careers. Secondly, he signed an 8 year deal last year and all of his signing bonus would be accelerated into a cap hit next year. Senseless in that nature because with the cap going as high as it has, the Saints are not in any salary cap trouble so thats not even an issue when it comes to paying both of them. Thirdly, Deuce has no problems sacrificing stats for wins. That makes him the ultimate team player which is what Payton is trying to fill the team with. This whole story is retarded.
It's a conspiracy to get in the Saints head before the playoffs.
this is a plot by the facist neo-conservative media to put doubt in the minds of the Saints heading into the playoffs. Sure, feel good, but don't let them think they can win against the nation's 3rd/4th/6th largest media market or we'll lose viewers, hence ad revenues.
Buying this load of bushcrapola would be, in a word, stupiderous. |
i think that having two legitimate running backs is what every nfl team is looking to obtain. we are lucky to have the perfect blend of power and speed with duece and reggie... both will benefit in terms of production and health, so if the saints org./duece are smart enough to realize this, #26 will be hanging in the superdome one day.

fox is a rumor mongering news organization - al davis
I have thought about this, just hope it's not true. The team would actually be making themselves worse if they did this for a draft pick. But, if they did it for a CB, at least we could say... they're trying to get better. BUT, What if they traded Deuce to GB for Nick Barnett? |
Fox just picked up the rumor. A Detroit radio show started it.
or to the Giants for Antonio Pierce?
Trading Deuce makes no sense. Dont even talk about the possible scenarios because it isnt going to happen. Our offense would not be the same without him. If we got rid of him, we would have to replace him and this is the worst year for RB's in the draft that i can remember. So why trade a Pro Bowl calibur RB and open up another hole on this team for no reason?
I hope this isn't true, but I know that Coach P does not care about names. He does what is best for the team, regardless of who he releases/trades. He's done well so far. I don't think Duece is in any danger of getting traded in 2007. IMO the only guy I'm worried about losing is Horn. His injuries have hit hard the last two seasons and they may ask him to take a pay cut. Knowing Horn, he isn't going to do it unless they win the big game and he wants to stay on the team. Who knows? Coach P will drop the hammer on any situation if he believes it will help the team.
he's not going anywhere.
that would be frigan stupid. it is great for deuce and bush to have them both here. it would be really really dumb for us to do that. now horn if he doesnt take a cut in pay may be headed some wher but i would not expect that of deuce. you don't have a successful season and start getting rid of your skilled players. that would be really dumb. we better not do that.
that rumor is really lame.
if duece were to get traded it would be like trading Brees straight up for culpecker |
The only difference I see at this point is the salary cap that Duece carries.
I love Duece but this is one of the only times in the recent past I can remember him being healthy the whole year. I think he could be replaced with a rookie to do the job asked of his role. But not a the cap hit price.... It would have to be one hell of a trade. |
The ONLY player I woulf forgive the front office for trading Deuce for would be Urlacher and that won happen so...
henderson is a safer bet
are u crazy duece goes nowere
I think that the person who started this thread is full of bull. As much as I surf the net, I've never run across anything that even remotely suggest that Deuce is going to get traded. Maybe one day it will happen, but not now. I hope you all know that the originator of this thread is pulling your leg.
Matthew, I didn't start this thread, but I know where the info came from. Go to foxsports.com, then go to New Orleans Saints team page, then look at fantasy news on the bottom left had corner of the page. It states the following:
"Deuce McAllister - #26 - Running back - 6'1" - 232lbs News: Deuce McAllister will reportedly be available in offseason trade talks. Impact: We're not sure why New Orleans would want to get rid of him; Reggie Bush finished the regular season strong but benefits from McAllister taking inside carries. McAllister would likely command at least a second-round pick as compensation. (Thu. Jan 4, 2007)" Heres the link: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team?statsId=18 Just so you know that the person who started this thread isn't pulling anyone's leg. |
its a load of crap, i dont see him going anywhere. i see him redoing his deal before leaving. 1) hes a team player, 2) hes too close to home to leave and 3) hes smart enough to realize hes in a perfect situation to play for many many years on a solid team. If deuce cared that much about money he wouldnt have donated a million to his college.

Is the story of this link accurate?, I sure hope it's not but I won't worry about that right now because the Saints are in the playoffs and could make it to the Super Bowl. |
Now if the Steelers can keep Staley and the Bus for so long why can't we? This is one of those new coach moves and as you can tell from the season Reggie is Payton's love child, but the most memorable moment was when Bush fumbled against the Ravens Payton was like good job! and yelled it at Reggie....but seriously chucky can't leave and we need Deuce he's a work horse!
if deuce is traded bush wont be able to finish the season healthynext year. he's not ready to run the ball 30 times a game.we will need to keep up a good run pass offence to keep our passing game healthy.sean payton is not stupid there is no way he will trade deuce next year.but i do believe we will see horn leave next year due to his age and injuries
Not going to happen. Deuce is our heart of the running game, and he had a standout season. All is good, and he'll prove naysayers in these upcoming playoff games. Geaux Saints!! Geaux Deuce!!
If we trade deuce this offseason it would not be smart I dont think reggie is ready to be #1 back all time plus Deuce is a fan favorite around new orleans I see him staying with the Black and Gold aleast 3 more yrs....
I would be disappointed if they trade Duece. He is a team guy and he was all for sharing the load with Reggie. Where else are you going to get a quality back like McAllister and a team first attitude that he has. He represents more than just a running back for the Saints.
Why is anyone paying attention to this?
because we are on a bye week
