Drafting? What do we need?
 

With some of the drafting threads already coming up I was wondering what do we need? I think the offense is fine. Maybe pick up a QB to have in reserve and a Strong CB. JMO. What do you think?

The D-line and linebackers just need to gel and improve. No need to overhaul personnel. But we need additional assistance with the speed and dexterity to cover the pass-happy offensive trends lately.

I think it's hard to identify what they need until we see who they lose/decide to part ways with in free agency and who they pick up in free agency. Hopefully, they will fill all their needs in free agency, leaving them the luxury of drafting BPA instead of for need

Who do we have that will be a free agent?

It's obvious we're going need to address our secondary this offseason whether it's through free agency or the draft. I can see us using a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a corner. I don't see a big difference in the corners this year after Hall and the Fresno guy. If a run stuffing tackles is available late in the first, I'd go DT. If that player isn't there, I think we'll go either linebacker or wide receiver. Our second on a corner and third on a tightend.

Two words in Free Agency: Asante Samual

In the draft in order of importance: DT, CB, LB, SS, TE, QB

We need a solid MLB that can play now in the 1st and we need a shut-down CB in the second and in the third we get a D-lineman sullivan size type but can actually go three downs and is like a Sapp speed prototype. We're one player from being a top 5 defense next year if and if we keep Charles Grant and everyone on our d except minor changes and yes my love child Bullocks and his buddy Harper back bananas! They're like a good role-playing game together like fire and wind they work oh so well together.

Can we get a list of our guys that have expiring contracts and will be FA's next year? Im busy at work right now and cant research it.....

I'd vote for making a serious run at Nate Clements or Asante Samuel to play at Corner.

Then I guess we should draft a DT, LB or C.

But I have total trust in Coach Payton. Whomever he drafts or signs, I'll be fine with.

We need to start building a solid linebacking core. Fujita should stay, but we need some more solid play on the outside. We also need a ball hawk safety. Someone who is always in the right place at the right time, to make interceptions. We have not created enough turnovers this season.

I just read somewhere that Charles Grant will be a free agent next year.

Isn't it a change of pace to anticipate the free agency market knowing we have a team that players are actually salivating to get on? :hump: Who doesn't want to play for a coach of the year, offensive juggernaught with a smashmouth D? Who doesn't want the adoration of loyal fans of the Saints caliber? I think like Saintsfan, that our free agency this offseason will be momentus!! :crow: :hump: :band: :saintsfan: :band:

oh yeah, I think we should pick up that Grant guy's contract, too. For old times sake.. :wink:

I want to draft fans who focus on this season when the team's in the playoffs with a bye. Let's see how we fare against the elite to figure out the deficiencies.

I agree with this and hope it helps us land Adalius Thomas. Having him, Fujita, and our other LBs will make us hard to run on. Hopefully we can get a solid CB in FA and draft some young secondary players. Our CBs are thin so we need to beef that area up.

Hollis Thomas is in the last year of his contract are we going to resign him or go in another direction?

No Draft talk until after we take the big prize! :-P Seriously, draft all depends on who comes and goes during FA.

Scott Shanle
Hollis Thomas
Terrance Copper
Mark Simoneau
Danny Clark

Grant and Stink are going to demand big money. Thomas and Shanle have been as valuable as anyone on our defense. Simoneau has started all year. Copper and Clark have both made plays for this team this year. Gotta resign most of these guys if you ask me.

What else do you "no talking about the draft and FA" folks want to talk about?

I guess we can come up with one more way to ask "Are we going to win Saturday".
