disturbing stat

Using the points for and points against stats for the season.
the Saints have only a one point better average than the Eagles.
When you discard the best game and the worst game for each team then the season average for the Saints is 25.35 points for and 19.6 points against leaving a difference of +5.75 and an average of 25.4 for and 20.9 against for the Eagles leaving a difference of +4.5. that leaves a seasons average difference of 1.25 points in favor of the Saints. This does not include home field advantage. but it does include the Eagles playoff game against the Giants.
Hopefully it means nothing but I was surprised to see how close the raw scores are.

Go Saints

I doubt that there are many Saints fans who believe that this will be a walkover for the boys in black and gold. The Eagles are a very talented and seasoned post season team. But this has been a season that I feel defies stats and logic in general. Many but the most die hard Saints fans came into this season with very low expectations for this team (I'm among that list- 5 wins at best - a fine prognosticator I'd make). The defense was comprised of underwelming, overextented, castoffs no-names... Our offense was a physical rehab therapist dream intermixed with untested rookies in nurmours skill positions... Not to mention a rookie head coach who cleaned house all during training camp dismissing veterans like some kind of selfdestructing madman. Well here we are in a place that boggles the mind. Two wins from the Super Bowl... Karma rules this season and not the numbers. :yinyang:

The Eagles HAVE been here before. Time, and time again. It's time for someone else to take the reigns of the NFC. Three straight NFC Championship losses, and then finally a Superbowl appearance, that ended with a loss. These guys have had their freaking chance. I'm not saying that a team shouldn't strive for the SB every year, and a season ending closer to it, isn't better than one years away. What I am saying is, that the Eagles defense are getting old, and they are slowing down with age. Their window is closing so fast, their heads are spinning. BUT, there is still a draft, so we have to shut it, and nail it shut on Saturday. It's time to take over the NFC, and I for one think we have the team to do it.

... and when the Saints play on the night of the 2nd Saturday of the month 5 months after the Summer solstice when the bells in Jackson Square ring, they lose by 45.
