Hebert on Horn

Just heard Bobby Hebert on 790 in Atlanta.

He said that he would be "shocked" if Horn plays this Sunday.

Yesterday someone on the other board falsely reported a "probable" status for Joe. He is still listed as ?, but I just thought I would share what Bobby said. (Some of you down in NO may have already heard that locally.)

With Coach Payton it's pretty simple. If Joe can go and play the entire game, then he'll be activated. If not, then he'll sit and Copper and Henderson will start.

Payton has made it clear that roster spots are too scarce and valuable to spend on players who cannot contribute. Joe understands this. As much as he's dying to play, he knows that unless he's close to 100% he won't get in. He also knows that the team can win with him on the sidelines, just as they have been doing for the last 6 weeks.

I'd love to see him in the game. But we all know that Brees will find any healthy receiver out on the field. So let's get the 46 that are best prepared to play out there on Sunday.

And I have no problem with Payton's stance on that. I think Horn has handled it very well also.

I just keep hearing that the two of them have clashed a bit. But Horn has outwardly been a very team focused guy. I'm not sure what's going on there.

I just know that last weekend it was painfully obvious that we only had one real WR option (other than the deep ball to Devery). I mean Devery is nice as a deep threat, big play guy, but he doesn't ever seem to get open for 4 quarters. Copper caught a little quick hit and that was all.

One of the real under reported stories from the Eagles game was the play of the TEs in the receiving game.

I just feel like Horn on the other side would make Colston that much more effective.

What can you do? If he's hurt, he's hurt and we try to win with Copper.

IT WOULD STILL BE NICE TO HAVE THE SHURE HAND OF A POSSESION RECEIVER LIKE HORN ON THE FIELD.NOT ONLY THAT HE IS A GREAT LEADER.COPPER JUST SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME,YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN HE'S GOING TO DROP A SURE CATCH OR FUMBLE THE BALL.

Saintbenny,

I agree with you about the young receivers. But we've gotten to this point with those guys and we really don't have a choice but to trust they will make the plays. Think about the sideline throw to Devery last week. That's what can be done with healthy receivers.

It's the NFL, guys. Joe Horn makes 90% of his money on the fact that he's skilled at running and juking. Joe's injury prevents him from running. And, I'm sorry guys, but if you can't run in the NFL, you're pretty much useless. He's going to do us no good jogging out there.

Look, I love Joe and I hope he heals as fast as possible because I believe that he makes this team better. But, we're trying to win an NFL game and he can't run.

Horn is not going to play this weekend. I got it confirmed. Everyone was optimistic early in the week but he hasnt made enough progress and the cold weather would just make things worse. Sorry if i got hopes up, but Joe is not going to be in uniform this week.

i would love, love to see joe out there this sunday. i think it would be a dagger in the bears. if he can't go though and is risking injury he is better sitting and waiting for the super bowl if we get the w. looking at the conditions for tomorrow this could be a sloppy tough game. bring on the deuce.

GoldRush26 01-20-2007 08:40 PM

I say no way Joe misses the Super Bowl. If we win tomorrow he'll be there in uniform. Resting him up until then makes sense. He's more than earned it.
