making a big deal over nothing

why is everyone making a big deal over what bush did to urlacher ..i seem to remember devin hester doing the same thing agaist the rams on one of his kickoff returns earlier this season..he did it and apologized its over ..

RE: making a big deal over nothing

p.s. reggie didn't turn the ball over 4 times

saintsrule 01-23-2007 12:39 AM

I don't have a problem with it. He was just having fun.

neugey 01-23-2007 06:31 AM

At least he didn't stop as he approached the goal line - I HATE it when other players do that.

Euphoria 01-23-2007 07:59 AM

its called class... reggie needs to get some. Ya can point at a player and show your ass all you want but all Urlacher has to do is point up at the scoreboard.

mighty12 01-23-2007 08:08 AM

Its called letting out frustration. It may not be right, but hey it was done and it is over. Let it die. Trust me it won't happen again.

TheGambler 01-23-2007 08:20 AM

Reggie will learn from it...

The flip was kinda cool, but the pointing was just stupid. Anyone who says otherwise is biased.

FatiusJeebs 01-23-2007 08:27 AM

I get the strangest feeling that Bush was actually imitating Hester. I dunno just a feeling. Either way....hey lord knows the amount of smack Reggie was hearing throughtout the game. I know I did the same thing to a guy who thought he was all high and mighty with his skills. I burnt him like toast on a slant and thanks to all his talk....I pointed at his sorry arse too as I was running away.

Bise 01-23-2007 09:01 AM

I liked it. I said it before and stand by it...... I hope he does it every time.

Tobias-Reiper 01-23-2007 09:49 AM

...it wasn't like that...
...he turned around to stiff arm anyone near him... it just happened that Urlacher wasn't as close as Reggie thought he was :)

frankeefrank 01-23-2007 12:12 PM

it's also called entertainment
I was entertained...
No one had a problem with Sheldon Brown celebrating after his hit on Reggie Bush.

Euphoria 01-23-2007 02:08 PM

celebrating is one thing... taunting is something totally different.

GoldRush26 01-24-2007 12:06 AM

Everyone's been gunning for Reggie all year. I can't recall the number of times opponents were lurking over Reggie after a huge hit or after he was stuffed in the flat. He finally turns it on in the second half of the season, and in this Bears game he got a little overexcited and pointed.

He probably had the biggest X on him in the entire NFL. I'm sure it felt great to have a gamebreaking play against the vaunted Bears who were probably trashtalking him the whole game.

But Shawne Merriman can do Lights out and Chad Johnson can do River Dance and that's not considered taunting. People are carrying on like this is like T.O. on the Dallas star or something. Reggie has plenty of class.

Like someone said earlier, no one had a problem when Reggie Bush was obliterated by Sheldon Brown the week before and Brown was carrying on like he conquered the world. People remember what they want to remember.

kurtrus 01-24-2007 12:33 AM

I have to agree. The Taunt seemed to be the media attracted like moths to a light. It makes for good story and gives the talking heads material to speak in high voices. However, if it provided motivation for Urlacher and crew and it spurred their next defensive series that resulted in The Safety and the whole momentum shifted as a result, then from a tactical standpoint, Reggie better keep that finger to himself next time.

Euphoria 01-24-2007 12:37 AM

Celebrating after a big play is one thing but taunting opponets just gets your ass kicked 39-14.

frankeefrank 01-24-2007 01:15 AM

you know you're right...
Reggie did lose this one for us.
Like when he didn't pick up the blitz and drew brees fumbled the ball
oh wait that was deuce
Or when he put the ball on teh ground after the defense came up with a big stop
no wait that was michael lewis
maybe it was when he came up 8 yards short on a field goal attempt
nope that was cundiff
the intentional grounding?
sorry that was brees.

Wait I lost my train of thought
How did Reggie Bush lose this game for us again?
MAYBE IF ANY OF THE OTHER GUYS ON THE TEAM HAD AS MUCH CONFIDENCE WE"D BE TALKING ABOUT STOPPING PEYTON THIS WEEK

frankeefrank 01-24-2007 01:21 AM

AND
Why didn't the taunt spark his own team?

Sure got me fired up.
The Bears are overrated

pakowitz 01-24-2007 02:04 AM

it wasnt one play that lost us this game.. there was a whole myriad of problems that went wrong for the saints... reggie didnt lose us this game... 4 turnovers and 7 penalties at bad times cost us this game.. and anyone who thinks reggie cost us this game doesnt know what they are talking about... the saints as a team played OK until the 4th quarter and thats when everything blew up on them... 21 4th quarter points by the bears cost us this game...not reggie bush...

AMEN!!!!!! Time to put this to bed!!!!

Euphoria 01-24-2007 10:43 AM

The game is bigger than any one player... I never said Reggie lost the damn game... you win as a team you lose as a team. You are the ones who say 'Reggie didn't lose the game', making this about individuals. ITS NOT. No one player should have the right to taunt not even if you are whipping them silly!

The way Reggie acted he might as well be on the Pats team. It comes across as arogant and cocky, just down right classless. The players who do things like that are only in it for themselves and not worried about the team. Reggie needs to grow up and learn its not just him out there. When have you seen Deuce taunting someone... now that is class... Marvin Harrison... classy.

All you can really do is rally the opponets TEAM to key off and beat ya and then who has the last laugh/taunt... DA BEARS.

Reggie acted out individually but the Bears reacted as a team.

Brann 01-24-2007 10:59 AM

Reggie's just an awful person. We should cut him right now because he's been nothing but terrible to the team and the city. Euphoria, your lack of football knowledge amuses me.

Christ almighty, isn't that enough? The season's over! We had a great year. Isn't that enough for everyone? We've all had our opinions of different things, this is just another one. Let it go!

Brann 01-24-2007 11:52 AM

For the record, I was being sarcastic. I'm tired of people making a big stink over a non-issue. We had a great season. Now let's look forward to free agency and the draft.

With all due respect behavior like this isn't gonna take the X off him any time soon. There was absolutely no need for what he did, particularly against someone like Uhrlacker who's probably one of the classier players in the game. Bush would do well to spend his time less with this nonsense and more about fundamental football, like learning to run north and south on punt returns rather than east and west.

The kid's a hell of a talent but talent without smarts is talent unused or mis-used. And somersaults into the endzone are just plain stupid. I like Reggie Bush and I'm glad he's on the Saints. But he does have some growing up to do. There's no class pointing at an all-Pro linebacker after you've outrun him...especially when you didn't outrun him by that much.

...so we result to personal attacks instead of debating an issue? I am in Hollywood now also, keep up with my personal life already will ya.

Why do you find it surprising that people are resorting to personal attacks? I've had to catch myself a couple of times already. Sometimes it seems as if all you are trying to do is rabble-rouse. I know (hope) you aren't trying to do that, but that's the way it appears a lot of the time. You're not going to criticize the team constantly without provoking anger from most people on here. It's a natural reaction.

Reggie didn't lose us the game. He didn't cause the Chicago offense or defense to get riled up. We still would've lost the game had Reggie not pointed. If Chicago needed that or anything other than a chance to go to the Super Bowl to get them riled up, then that's a sad state of affairs for that team. They were the better team, and were causing turnovers and roughing us up well before that taunt happened. It just seems like you've had something personal against Reggie ever since the season started.
