DT: A Really Big Man from a Small School
A Really Big Man from a Small School
2007-nfl-draft-5th round projection Walter Thomas DT 6' 5" 370 4.8-4.9 What does the 2005 NFL Draft have similar with the 2007 NFL Draft? There were/are two players from a community college that were/are major NFL Prospects. In the 2005 NFL Draft, Larry Brackins was from Pearl River Community College and was drafted in the 5th round (19th pick) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brackins tested positive for steroids and is not on the Bucs roster currently. This year in the 2007 NFL Draft there is a monster defensive tackle named Walter Thomas from Northwest Mississippi Community College. Thomas weighed 6' 5" 370 pounds at the Texas vs. Nation All-Star game, and can reportedly run in 4.8-4.9 range. He was heavily recruited, but left Oklahoma State early in his college career. Thomas Played in only two games this year for his tiny Community College, but completely and utterly dominated those games with 16 tackles, 9 tackles for loss and 4 sacks. Thomas is only a junior, so this young man has a lot of upside. He has been all the talk recently among NFL Scouts, and I have even heard some say he could be drafted as early as the 5th round in the 2007 NFL Draft. Now this kid is interesting wonder if we will talk with him. |
RE: DT: A Really Big Man from a Small School
He seems to have some underlining issues though. They may come out just before the draft. Like why he left OSU, and why did he go to a CC, and why did he only play 2 games? He seems like a dominant player so why would he just up and leave a big time school for a CC? If it was academics I can deal with that, if it is because of off the field stupidity then I would pass.

Walter Thomas DT 6' 5" 370 4.8-4.9 .... Thomas is only a junior, so this young man has a lot of upside. He has been all the talk recently among NFL Scouts, and I have even heard some say he could be drafted as early as the 5th round in the 2007 NFL Draft. I was wondering the same thing for a guy with such little playing time. |

RE: Re: DT: A Really Big Man from a Small School
Need I remind everyone that NEW ORLEANS is the last place for a 6' 5'' 370 lb youngster. Remember the big fellas from past? Look I'm not trying to knock the young man, but history has shown that those type of players don't fare well in our delicious culture. The food is just to damn good, that 370 would become 410, 430 before you blink an eye. It definitely would be a bad idea, two words, HAND, GLOVER. Enough said!
