RE: saints mock pick ????????????
If we don't sign a FA CB this is our guy:
Name: Aaron Ross College: Texas Number: 31 Height: 6-1 Weight: 192 Position: CB Pos2: KR Class/Draft Year: Sr/2007 40 Time: 4.46 40 Low: 4.42 40 High: 4.49 |
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
Marshawn Lynch, RB, 5-11, 217, 4.40, California
Jarvis Moss - DE, 6-6, 255, 4.63, Florida Paul Posluszny - OLB/ILB, 6-2, 238, 4.65, Penn State Justin Blalock - 6-4, 330, 5.25, Texas Marcus McCauley - CB, 6-0, 200, 4.36 Fresno State Daymeion Hughes - CB, 6-2, 192, 4.55, California Chris Houston - CB, 5-11, 190, 4.45, Arkansas Zach Miller - TE, 6-5, 259, Arizona State These are a few names on the board still. Anybody and everybody has input on this one |
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
Arron may be better suited for a cover 2 guy from everything I have read. We need a CB that can live out there alone, cover two is not our style.
Marcus McCauley - CB, 6-0, 200, 4.36 Fresno State Is more of that style. but there is so many ifs surrounding him do we really want to reach that far? |
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
I don't care which one just take a cornerback.
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
sounds old time FO talk :band: :patos: :pink:
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
I REALLY like Moss here. Big and Quick. I think we could really use him as a split defender. He ripped through the OSU line in the BCS championship.
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
Paul Posluszny - OLB/ILB, 6-2, 238, 4.65, Penn State
This is my pick. I say we get a CB in FA that is proven. I really like this guy and he is quality guy that can fit in the system. |
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
I really like picking Blalock here. He's the best value here w/ only two other OL taken so far in the draft. Could play left guard or right tackle for us. I'd prefer LG. He could be one of the more dominant run blockers in the NFL. Creating some gaping holes up the middle for Deuce and Reggie would really enhance the offense.
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
Paul Posluszny.
I mean seriously, how could you not jump on this guy? Immeasurables are off the chart. The guy hits HARD. He's a natural-born leader. Exactly the kind of guy Payton needs. He was slowed last year by the knee injury, but this guy is an animal. The reason I don't want a CB here is that the draft is very deep with guys who could go late first, or into the second. We can take PP here, and still get the same caliber CB in the 2nd as we could here. |
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
Paul Posluszny.

RE: saints mock pick ????????????
mighty 12
Jarvis Moss, DE, 6-6, 251, 4.63, Florida, Jr value pick for sure neugey Justin Blalock - 6-4, 330, 5.25, Texas value pick duce, fhs623 Paul Posluszny - OLB/ILB, 6-2, 238, 4.65, Penn State value CB debate CheramieIII Aaron Ross - CB, 6-1, 192, 4.46, Texas as for the CB duce after Chris Houston - CB, 5-11, 4.45, Arkansas Marcus McCauley - CB, 6-1, 200, 4.36 Fresno State There is a drop off at CB that can sit alone out there. Cover 2 guys are plenty not man on man. unless we risk taking some one like Eric Wright - CB 5-11, 190, 4.45(?), UNLV with all the Character concerns or David Irons - CB, 5-10, 188, 4.45 Aurburn Unless You think Fred Bennett, CB, 6-1, 200, 4.40 South Carolina Tanard Jackson, CB, 6-1, 195, 4.45, Syracuse Will fall into our laps at 59 If we could trade up in the draft in the 2nd just a few picks Tanard is an option for sure. I do not see him getting past all the teams from #51 (NYG) on needing secondary help. Other than that we better get a good FA |
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
No doubt Paul Posluszny... he will be the BPA and the best value if he falls to us.
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
Posluszny, for sure, although Ross is very tempting, depends on how FA went...but I like this guy
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
someone might wanna move up, i dont see trading down as a bad idea here, theres still 3 or 4 players that i wouldnt mind.....Ross, Posluszny, Blalock, Hughes, Houston, or McCauley. I like each one of them, so moving back a few spots isnt a bad idea, and pickup up a 2nd or 3rd and some aint bad. Prolly a player and a pick......
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
with Marshawn Lynch on the board and paul there might be some takers.
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
I have a feeling someone's going to take Lynch real soon... *cough* *me* *cough*
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
Detroit, Cleveland and Houston could us another back..... and they are all within striking distance and then again so are jets they have two second round picks. Hmm do you want to risk it Paz?
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
I can't see the Saints passing up on Poz and Moss... Lynch will be there for Baltimore's picking. 8)
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
Unrivaled character and leadership skills are not an issue but Posluszny does not possess any standout physical gift either. Providing everything checks out fine with the knee. Though this season he did seem a bit slower than last year. So ILB is going to be his position. Then there is his inability to shed blocks as his only weakness. which is a big problem for MLB.
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
Too analytical I think...
Elvis Dumervil of the Broncos was too slow. Dwight Freeney was undersized. Anquan Boldin was too slow. Jeff Garcia was too short. Kurt Warner was Kurt Warner. At the end of the day, I want a football player... and Poz is that guy. Look at linebackers like Bruschi, Spielman, Ted Johnson, etc... Poz fits into that same mold. They didn't do anything spectacular, they were just hard nosed football players. |
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
I do not think it is a big deal in a 3-4 as a ILB, but it is in a 4-3. shedding blocks is a must in the 4-3 as MLB. Not that I would hate the pick but I have to wonder. speed in the middle is key also in a 4-3. once again not so much as in a 4-3
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
Well lets see how he fairs at the combine... it's going to tell us a lot more about him.
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
He was a top 10 pick last year and the only reason hes not this year is his injury slowed him down. If hes there when we pick we have to take him, theres too much of an upside.
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
Puz for me please...
|
RE: saints mock pick ????????????
Paul Posluszny - OLB/ILB, 6-2, 238, 4.65, Penn State
Justin Blalock - 6-4, 330, 5.25, Texas Marcus McCauley - CB, 6-0, 200, 4.36 Fresno State Chris Houston - CB, 5-11, 190, 4.45, Arkansas Zach Miller - TE, 6-5, 259, Arizona State These are the 4 we would choice from. tough call. All four address a big need on the team. But Paul is the best impact for the dollar at this pick. Houston next because he is ready to step in right now. Marcus has the most upside of all 3, but has the greatest potiental to be a bust. 30 year old gaurd needs to be addressed for sure. Miller would be nice to have but the D needs beef. besides the second teir of TE in the draft is one of the best in years. Bowe not mentioned was a surprise. |
