Andy Alleman G/Akron

What do you guys think? Not a bad choice IMO.

A team has got to have a good o-line to have a good O so it's hard to complain. My only problem is that the D line needs help too and it's been over looked so far.

Yeah, I was hoping that Tank Tyler would be available, but this is not a bad pick at all. The Defense needs to be addressed though.

This guy looks like a project- played DE for 2 years, sat out a year, and then played 2 years at OG

Why did we trade out of the 2nd? Kalil went with the next pick. I am all for depth on the O-line, but let's get the best guy. For instance, an All American from USC, not a 2 year starter from Akron.

Plus, we also still had a shot a B.Davis in the third.

?????????????????????????????????????

you mean like instead of a guy like evans from bloomburgh or soemthing

BlueDevil1978 04-28-2007 09:58 PM

Buster Davis and McCauley were my picks for the 2nd. Tank could have been a tremendous help for the interior D line. 2 out of 3 picks in the first day was offense - I hope they're thinking defense tomorrow

he will be a starter soon. give him a year and we will see. I think we just upgraded the RG position big time

Alleman is a throwback to the days when guards like Dan Dierdorf and Conrad Dobler of the old St. Louis Cardinals punished defensive linemen on a regular basis. The former Pittsburgh defensive end is a strong, powerful athlete, who left the Panthers program after the 2003 season. The Pittsburgh staff wanted him to continue playing on the defensive line, but Alleman felt he was a better offensive guard. He transferred to Akron, where former Pittsburgh assistant coach, J.D. Brookhart, had taken over as the Zips' head coach in 2004.

Hey, this guy Alleman is from Massilon, Ohio. That's where pro football started back (Massilon Tigers vs Canton Bulldogs) in the late 1800's / early 1900's. So he has some history on his side.
