I really thought that in the 5th round we would take a LB, whether it be Rufus Alexander OKLA, or Tim Shaw PSU (both day one picks in my opinion). I like what I am hearing about David Jones, but it seems that Saints for some reason just don't draft LBs when year in and year out that is one of our weak points. Maybe in the 7th.

well we have drafted linebackers... they just havent panned out...

It's not? You seriously think Scott Shanle is the answer? I don't. Compared to every other position on this team, only defensive tackle is a more pressing need in my eyes. We could have used a guy like Posluszny.

If you had read a post I made earlier, you would have seen exactly what I said about our LB corps. It's not great, but it is deep. That is why it isn't a glaring need. A starting DT and depth at DE behind Smith and Grant are more pressing IMO than LB. I'm not at all worried about our LB's. First time I can honestly say that in a quite a while.

I am not 100% sure that LB is a glaring need. We have alot of depth, and we were a middle of the line defensive unit. We have the number one offense in the league and want to keep it that way. Sean understands that if Drew gets hit too many times we don't have a QB to replace him. I am going with my gut on this draft and would give it an A. BPA in the first round who could have gone as high as 15, CB who has average height and blazing speed, and he doesn't have to perform right now, 2 BIG lineman who will add depth, The best 2nd day RB(I don't understand the trade but right when it happend I knew he was the pick) This is an EXACT replica of last year, so I AM HAPPY!

I'm not arguing against the offensive line picks, because I do think that Brees needs protection, and you can never go wrong with OLine depth. But drafting a Pittman and mutliple corners is just misguided in my opinion, especially considering we just signed Jason David to handle the other corner opposite MM. I'm just saying that having depth at LB is nice, but we could have had a stud in Posluszny. Right now we have a bunch of guys who can play, but nobody really who stands out. I think we need a playmaker at the linebacker spot, a guy who can change the game, and we just don't have one right now. Just my opinion, you don't have to agree with it, but I'm just not convinced Scott Shanle can provide what we need out of the linebacking position.

Passed up some good talent. but we have so much depth at OL now I am happy for the next couple of years. look at the street FA added and the draft, man o man. I can not wait to see what we pick up in UDFA after this. We got some nice DT on the practice squad too, that are playing in europe. I think all the money spent in the off season on the D held us back abit. As for LB we got round 7 still. Alot of the odd balls on my chart are falling now. god knows what will be left. Do not rule out something happening before the season starts to.

payton was trying to get us to the superbowl and fell to chicago....
chicago goes over and over in my mind.........what did we not have to beat em? was it luck? some..........our recieving corps, our running backs, our kicking team, our corners, our dts, what else..............how did payton m. do it? he took what they gave him and fed it back to em..........
who out there says we wont be back barring injury to brees? and do we look better than last time? i'd be surprised if we're not..........superbowl, the saints are coming....................smitty
