Meachem and the UT curse............
[No. 1 draft choice Robert Meachem, a wide receiver from Tennessee, missed the afternoon practice Sunday, standing on the sideline wearing a wrap from above his right knee to the bottom of his leg. Meachem, who sprained his left ankle during rookie minicamp last month, practiced Sunday morning without any apparent limitations. After the afternoon practice, the Saints would not make Meachem available to the media and Payton didn’t talk either.]
I hope this kid don't have the Stallworth syndrome, if he do(and I prey that he don't) I think we need to start staying away from those UT wideouts. |
You know, as soon as we drafted him, the name Stallworth popped right into my head.

Saints | Meachem to have knee examined
Mon, 4 Jun 2007 10:33:57 -0700 The Associated Press reports New Orleans Saints WR Robert Meachem (knee) will have his right knee examined for a potential medial meniscus problem after he missed practices Sunday, June 3, and Monday, June 4. "After his exam I'll know a little bit more, but it started to get to the point where it was hampering him (Sunday afternoon) running," head coach Sean Payton said. "We backed him off yesterday and the same way this morning." Payton added the team was aware Meachem had a possible minor meniscus problem before they selected him in April's NFL Draft. I think these are just regular football injuries.

its probably a good thing that early OTA reports are saying devery is looking better.
i dont like this report one bit. |
Also you have to keep in mind that WR is one of the most difficult positions to develop into in the NFL. We have had great success with WR's of late but usually the standard in the NFL is 4 years before a WR can come into his own.

Man, I preyed that this wouldn't be the case, but early on in the off season it looks to be true. Robert Meachum our first round draft choice has been bitten by the Stallworth Syndrome, the Tennessee Tragedy, the Agent Orange Injury, or the Rocky Mountain Mono, whatever you want to call it, the leg injury bug that the UT receivers incur in the NFL is mind boggling. It makes me wonder if it's the way those guy's go about preparing their receivers at the University. Whatever it is, it needs to be looked in to, and let's just hope this is short term and don't nag him the whole season. |

Out 3 to 4 weeks is not major. They were aware of this. The Saints seem to have a good handle on evalution of injuries. I hope it has not been luck. I will hold off with the curse stuff just yet. |
