Pitch For D. Walker To Be A Saint.....
I'm making my pitch for DT Darwin Walker to be a Saint, I think these stats says it all, I think our defense need a pass rushing attack up the middle. Just imagine having Young and Walker in and out, back and fourth into the lineup, when that fourth quarter roll around man they would be so fresh and unstoppable.
Below are the statistics from the last five (5) years of our DTs and Walker's, DARE TO COMPARE: NAME____________YRS_GMS_TLKS_SKS_PD_INT_FF_FR Kendrick Clancy____5____54___78___3___1__0___1__3 Lance Legree______5____64__115___7___1__0___1__1 *Hollis Thomas_____5____60__169__3.5__8__0___1__3 Brian Young_______5____79__227___12__4__0___2__8 ^Antwan Lake_____4____53___32___4___3__0___2__0 Rodney Leisle______3____17___17___0___0__0___0__1 McKinley Boykin____1____0____0____0___0__0___0__0 Brandon Villarreal___1____0____0____0___0__0___0__0 NAME____________YRS_GMS_TLKS_SKS_PD_INT_FF_FR Darwin Walker______5___77___165_26.5_11__1__5__5 notes: *Used 2001 because he missed the entire 2002 season. ^signed with the Falcons in 2003, DNP. -Antwan Lake is more effective as a DE than a DT. "After reviewing these stats can anyone tell me why this wouldn't be a hell of a good move for our defense, I personally believe that this is the move that pushes our defense to the top. Also making this move offers the Saints the luxury of playing Antwan Lake strictly at DE, improving the overall effectiveness of the whole defensive line." |
The fact that he wants big time money for a one dimensional player. He is holding out for a massive contract from the Bills and he isnt going to get it...so he is going to be sent back to the Eagles and they dont want any part of him...he is the perfect example of a guy who thinks he is much better than he really is...he is a good pass rusher for a DT...but has been marginal at best vs the run. The Eagles are very good at retaining their good young players...and they chose to trade him.

Hollis does have one of my favorite plays from last year. In atlanta late in third (i think) broke through the middle and hurried Vick into passing, a complete though. On that play he leveled vick. Text book tackle. Face mask in the numbers and plowing vick backwards into the turf. I mean plowed. Vick had to peal himself from the carpet. from that point on he was scrambling every direction but in Hollis' direction. Hollis may not have gotten the scaks but he does instill fear which is just as good.
Well what kind of money are you guys talking here. 2.0 to 3.5 million? Lets here some numbers. 2.0 might fly but any more and I doubt it. He was sent packing from the eagles because he would not hold up his end of the contract and now he is not working with the Bills after the trade. The sign up money must be like Clancys' last year with the Cards. 3.5 million. If that the case we will probably not go after him. |
You can never have enough D-line depth and talent, but this is a business. If it makes financial sense then I'm all for it. b

I think around 2 mil to 2.5, 3 year contract should do the trick with an op out clause after the second year for the club. Walker is one of the top DTs in the league, on ESPN they said he was one of the top three or four DTs over the last five year's. If we're seriously talking about making the next step to winning a Superbowl, it's moves like this that gets you there, just ask New England.
