Larry Johnson to NO?

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...yhoo&type=lgns

"New Orleans? Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush were a great combination last season. Johnson and Bush would be even better, allowing superior schemer Sean Payton to come up with even more great plays for his explosive offense."

A far-fetched but interesting proposition. Personally I don't see it happening.

papz 06-25-2007 09:15 AM

The thought wouldn't even cross my mind. LJ wants more money than Deuce and we cannot commit that much money in one position. Also there wouldn't be enough touches to go around. Crap why not LT and LJ on the same team... WAY BETTER than LT and Turner. *rolls eyes* at article.

saintswhodi 06-25-2007 09:57 AM

What he said. Won't stop me from doing it on Madden though. lol

DeadmaN 06-25-2007 09:57 AM

That makes no sense at all
Why would you get rid of Duce who is…

1. All ready signed with us to a fair contract…
2. One powerful back…
3. Works well with your program…

…for someone who is asking for more money?

I truly think that doing something like this would be a huge mistake.
Don’t get me wrong LJ is a good RB but we already have 2 of the best RB's around.
If the coaches and the management if this origination did something as foolish as this I’m sorry but I would loose all faith in there ability to manage this team.

DeadmaN 06-25-2007 10:11 AM

not to mention didn't we just recently pick up running back Antonio Pittman

I believe PAPZ said it best with...

two words...
HELL NO!

Why is it that just when everything is finally coming together, some idiot has to come up with asinine idea, putting fear and doubts in fans and "ideas" in managements head. This is the stupid idea I've heard so far. We've got a successful two back system. (proven vet, pro-bowler and superstar rookie) and the #1 offense. I works! Leave it alone.
If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.

Euphoria 06-25-2007 11:32 AM

Sure we can use another running back.

ditto! No way this happens.

That yahoo (pun intended) is always writing nonsense. Anything for ratings...

Personally, I think LJ is one dimensional, and Deuce is a complete RB. He is also one of the faces of our organization. I wouldn't trade Deuce for any RB in the league. Well....If someone came up with a 2nd round pick 3 years from now, and Pittman & company showed respectable YPC, I'd consider the offer. At least I'm honest.

bobcat4u2 06-25-2007 03:58 PM

are we nvaded with saboturs today?

blacksaint 06-25-2007 07:33 PM

Last time I check Deuce had over a 1,000 yards, 10 tds in limited time last year. Johnson is great in the Chiefs rushing philosophies and blocking scheme, I don't think he would fit our offensive philosophies as well as THE DEUCE fits our schemes. McCallister is a proven and respectable RB in the league on and off the field, I don't think anybody in the Saints FO would even raise an eyebrow to something that don't make any logical sense. Johnson made waves when Priest Holmes was the main back for KC, and now he's doing the same thing, you didn't hear anything from Deuce when he was drafted and sat behind Ricky Williams, and you didn't hear a peep out of him when we drafted Reggie, all he did was make Bush a better professional. So what do you think is going to happen to the team chemistry if they put a me first attitude on our squad? Don't you think Coach Payton knows what that type of player does to a team, you bet your sweet praline he does.

MatthewT 06-25-2007 07:50 PM

I would trade Deuce to KC for Larry Johnson in a heartbeat. Of course in addition to Johnson, the Chiefs would have to include their first round draft picks for the 2008, and 2009 draft, along with Brodie Croyle. LOL

Tobias-Reiper 06-25-2007 09:31 PM

... let's see how any KC RB fares without Roaf and Shields first, before calling LJ a "premier" RB.

cadilacin 06-25-2007 09:53 PM

what?

Don't waste my time. Deuce is my boy!! Plus...he know how to share the backfield and spotlight with Reggie.

ScottyRo 06-26-2007 08:54 AM

No way! Even assuming the sentiment that LJ is better than Deuce is correct (I don't), this trade doesn't make sense. Deuce is a team player with deep ties to the community and who is has impeccable character on and off the field. LJ is a whiny "me first" player. It wouldn't be good for team chemistry and would make no sense to spend anything to get LJ since he'd be a minor upgrade at best.

1. Cannot afford him
2. Already have two starters
3. ^^^

Duh! I got mad when I though about LJ replacing my Deuce.

I totally agree I think for one Deuce is highly underrated and I for one would be seriously pissed if he was traded he had no problem playing second fiddle to Reggie when he was brought in he is a team player not someone who is going to want it all to be about him. We have the top ranked offense as someone already said if it ain't broke don't fix it.
