question. tony romo....if dallas did not want to sign him to big contract,

would payton consider him?
after all, he did go after him when he first got here, and that was before brees, but, deep down, is payton interested?
he is young with a lot of upscale,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
what do you think?

As a back up!!!

I think everyone has learned a lesson in dealing with Brees.

WhoDat205 07-09-2007 04:15 PM

He's to hot right now to be a back-up, so no, not as a starter for starter money. I'd rather get Lance Briggs for that kind of $$$.

Romo has plenty of market value and even if Payton did want him, why would Romo want to come here and be a backup? Not a good match for either side. We'd be stupid to fork out the cash for him to come here and he'd be stupid to sit on the bench when he can be a starter elsewhere for TONS of more money.

lol
if he wants him get him but that will be a expensive backup. I would not hate seeing running on the field if needed

LongTimeFan 07-09-2007 07:34 PM

I'm not big on Romo, the Saints exposed him last season and he hasn't been the same since, if my memory is correct his only really good game was on Thanksgiving Day, after that he looked more like a backup than a starter..

No Thanks,
As said, he'll want to be a starter this coming season and I'm pretty sure some one will start him if Dallas doesn't.
The Bears?
Detroit?
Bills?
Vikings?

I think he would be an improvement for one of those teams and that's not saying a hell of a lot.

we could always use another backup place kick holder.......NOT! ;P

If not for the fact that Bledsoe was on his last legs talent-wise, Romo shouldn't have ever started. He had a couple good games, as any career backup should, but never wowed like a true starter.

I have confidence in who we've go and the coaching staff to get the most of them should Brees go down. If that horrible thought should occur, remember we have the best one-two back feild in the league. It'l be run, run, dump-pass for 80 yards and the score.

Romo is not worth the money he's generating right now.

Romo is a fake. He's no good. He got hyped up because he was a new young QB in Dallas, a city that has had some good signal callers. Ever since Troy they haven't been able to find the right guy: Quincy Carter, Vinny, Drew Bledsoe, Drew Henson, Jason Garrett. They just wanted somebody, anybody really to take their spoiled a**es back to the Super Bowl; and they saw a young, good looking guy who had some swagger and they thought "Hey this guy is it." But he's not. He's a gambler type quarterback who doesn't have a strong enough arm to make the kind of throws that he wants to throw, which is probably why he tanked down the stretch (and probably the reason he went to EIU).

Also, I don't think we should get him for another reason: he seems like the kind of guy who is set on starting. In Dallas, he always seemed to be lurking right there behind Drew Bledsoe, which didn't make sense to me because Bledsoe is a better QB. In all honesty, I think he shook Bledsoe's confidence because Bledsoe could probably tell that management was looking "to get younger", and Bledsoe started to press. Why bring that pressure to New Orleans, and put it right behind Drew Brees? Romo is a crappy starter, but he thinks he should be a starter, so let him start and lose somewhere else.

I've said it before and I'll say it here...

That this guy went to the pro bowl is a travesty and a mockery of what the pro bowl stands for!

If the voting for the pro bowl was done in an non-stupid manner - that is, the voting starts late in the season rather than in week 7 - then he would never had made it anyway. He had a couple of good games early on, but the league started to catch up with him after about 4 or 5 games and his performances really suffered.

I'm not saying that he didn't do OK last year, but Pro Bowl quality he was not. There is no conceivable reason why we would go after him at all. Dallas isn't even sure of how good he is or they would offer him a big, long term contract.
